I was promised by the above individual at Centex Mortgage that all my bills would be paid off. This would get me out of collections. They overcharge on interest to get your credit back and don't follow through whatsoever with paying of my medical and other collections bills. I have made numerous attempts to work with Tami and she still won't work with me to pay of the collections bills which she promised at the signing and agreement of the loans. Centex doesn't follow through on their promises.

Hi Silvia, I am from Redlands, California, and I know what it is like when you sign a document and you see what bills will be paid and the amount due to the borrower, and then all this changes are made and nobody communicates this to you so that you do not cancel the loan. We did not have a CENTEX rep come to our home and explain the documents, they sent a notary. At the end of the process, we did not get one thing that was promised to us, IN WRITING, and the DEET OF TRUST was notarized without my spouse personally appearing before the notary or the notary book signed by him, and it still got recorded! I am trying to get more complaints sent to the attorney general, please write to him, EDMUND G. BROWN, JR. Attorney General 300 S. Spring Street, Ste. 1702 Los Angeles, Ca 90013 If you need to get in touch with me, just e-mail me and I will provide you with my number. [email protected]

I signed loan documents at my home with a notary of their choice, to include the Truth-In-Lending and after it was taken back to Centex, the Title company had made a $27,000.00 error and it was changed without providing us a copy of the updated Truth-In-Lending. Fidelity National Title and Centex kept this huge error and never gave us the Truth-In-Lending because they did not want to loose the money they were making on us. So when I read that we should sign the papers only when we agree with them, I cringe, because we did and there were changes made and we still have not been able to get them to cancel the loan that they put through. We also reviewed our Deed of Trust but it got notarized without my spouse personally signing the notrary book! Now figure that one out! Do you really think that Centex has no fault, come on, they have people contributing to their frodulent actions.

Thanks for rambling... dont sign the docs

Adrienne, Rather than ramble on and on, why dont you simply adress my questions and try to answer them. Bottom line is dont sign the documents if you dont agree to the terms. When you sign loan documents, there is a hud statement which lists everything that is to be paid off...if a creditor you need paid off is not on that statement, dont sign the docs.

Some Kind of Middle-Ground

Now let's all come to some kind of middle ground here. Now days, everyone is so up in arms about what's going on today, or tomorrow, or a week from now, and has "no comment" on how they got in the spot they're currently in... It seems to me that we as adults are just as apt to throw some sort of "temper tantrum" when we don't get our way, exactly how we want it, as if we momentarilly revert back to childhood. Everyone is quik to say that a company is doing them wrong, but not once mentions what they've done wrong to get themselves in the spot they're in when they finally reach out for help. It's always the "big guys'" fault when they don't fix all of your mistakes for you. I don't recall in reading these responses where someone mentioned, "Hey, they didn't payoff all the bills that I spent years building up... taking other companies' services, and not feeling as if I had to pay for them until I felt like it..." What do you think happens to the employees and their families of the companies that at least one out of every two adults accept the services of, and never pay for? Do you think they keep their 40-50 hour per week jobs? Do you think they miraculously are able to pay for their homes and bills? It's all admittance really. Getting to a place where you want to right your wrongs... And your home is yes, agreeably, the most importiant asset most people have. So why wouldn't you watch that asset with an eagle's eye? It's like if you're computer breaks down... Any IT person would tell you that at the root of the problem... it's always user error. Agreeably, alot of paperwork is filled with legal mumbo jumbo that not every average person even understands, but why would you not ask? Pride? So, that says to me that because someone had too much pride to ask what something meant, that they went on their way, pretending to know what it meant, and then want to complain when something doesn't go their way... after the fact. And, as I recall, the final HUD which you ALWAYS get with every closing, is as cut and dry as you can get. It perfectly outlines what money goes where, and who is being paid off, and who isn't. It's a "one-page" description of EXACTLY what you're getting. And it's not in legal limbo. It's as black and white as anyone who can read can get. If, at the point in time you see your HUD, and it doesn't appear to be what was aggreed upon, in a time where your home IS you're most importiant asset, why would you not ASK WHAT'S GOING ON? Why would you sign paperwork that essentially puts your most importiant asset in the hands of someone else, and then be surprised when you don't get what you want, or when you can't hold up the end of the bargain that you supposedly aggreed to when you signed your name, and never asked any questions..... It's not a war here. Because just like our customers, we have homes and families too. We wake up, and try and make it through the day and week and year, and keep our lives in order just like you do.. But it seems to me that you're doing the same thing that you're trying to persecute our company for. Put your wrongs off as someone ELSES' FAULT....

Same song... SUCH AUDACITY - all these individuals that are ganging up on poor old Centex!

another verse. When Silvia says that Centex didn't pay all her bills according to the way they said they would, that's undoubtedly exactly what happened. The way it works, Mike, is that Centex's motto is "Centex never does anything wrong, just the borrowers do." - Centex is NEVER responsible for failing to do what they said they would, lying to people, cheating them in every way possible, etc. -Because if you ask them they'll TELL you: it's YOUR fault! - Just because we play "bait and switch" with interest rates, -leaving the nasty little surprise til the close, - adding prepayment penalties, 'flipping loans,' refusing to provide payoff amounts in order to allow a property sale to go forward, harrassing customers, laughing at them when legitimate information is requested and refused, etc. etc. That's why there are so many "love stories" on this site and others about what a truly warm and wonderful company Centex is. - Because IT'S EVERYONE ELSE'S FAULT! - They are, don't forget, just a little company worth billions of dollars that practices every form of predatory lending recorded - and they do it with such a GREAT ATTITUDE! - Because they're always so sure IT'S YOUR FAULT! Shame on all these individuals like Silvia who have the audacity to pick on such a community-oriented company like Centex. I mean, just HOW are they to defend themselves? Obviously, ALL these individuals who post complaints about the company and it's predatory practices are just BULLIES looking to pick on that poor little company. After, all, what ELSE do we have to do? Go to work like honest citizens to pay our bills and just try to have a decent life? And occasionally commit the cardinal crime of trying to pay off all our bills with a consolidation loan so we can get a little breathing room? How DARE we not know all the details of the Truth in Lending Law when we come in to the too-long delayed close! How DARE we not be familiar with all the ins-and-outs of the FTC requirements for lending companies! How DARE we not read every single one of the 25 or 30, legal-length pages with size 9 font, liberally doused with legalese! How DARE we not have a legal education to fully understand the impact of each of those paragraphs! How DARE we go to a close on a loan at the end of our regular work day - doing something else - and TRUST that the company doing the lending is not going to try to rob us and steal our homes, just because we wanted to tap into one of the few built-up assets we have TO PAY OUR CREDITORS! SUCH AUDACITY - all these individuals that are ganging up on poor old Centex! After all, all those individuals are SO much stronger than that multi-billion dollar business. Surely we should all see the errors of our ways and stop picking on Centex! Because, after all, Centex is always right! - Just ask them. -But don't borrow money from them. - Because it's not easy to beat up on Centex - when they've caused you monetary damages of close to $110,000 - and you're trying not to lose your property. That's when this website and the resources some of the individuals here offer you will become quite valuable. -Especially when you work 45-50 hours a week, take care of a family, and try to save your home in your "spare time" from people who are PAID to steal it from you. Yea, poor old Centex. I'm sure we've got them all wrong...

a few questions... equity in your home to cover the larger loan amount

#8UPDATE Employee

Fri, September 24, 2004

Before your loan closes the loan officer and branch manager will go over with you what exactly is being paid off with the loan...if they were not paying off everything you needed paid off, why did you sign the documents? What was the reasoning behind them not paying off all your debts? There is no reason they wouldnt pay off anything you needed paid off unless you did not have enough equity in your home to cover the larger loan amount...
