They were nice at first until they got my signature on the contract.

They were 2 weeks late. I took time off from work to oversee the work. The painters spoke to me like I was inconsequential. They washed the house with some chemical that killed all my plants and would not pay for their replacement. They started to put primer on the house before it was dry from power washing. They were asked to leave and the manager apologized and sent me another crew.

They were worse than the first one. They started to put paint on before the priming was done and I caught them when I came home at lunch. They told me it was self priming paint???? It does not exist according to the Better Business Bureau. By the time I found this out, the house was completed. Now, the paint is pealing off in sheets and they are to busy to come fix it.

They told me next year they will SQUEEZE it in. My daughter was to be married in the back yard so I had to hire a contractor to come fix their mess. The more he scraped, the more came off. The list goes on... too much daily noise, the painters used the phone and left paint all over the side chair and the bathroom AHHHH!!!

one clarification and am not trying to make any excuses

As the owner of a painting company, I just wanted to make one clarification. I have no idea the quality of work this company did, and am not trying to make any excuses whatsoever. There however are some self-priming paints available from the high end paint manufactureres. I doubt they used them in this case if the paint came off so quickly, however self priming paints do exist, and the BBB was incorrect in claiming they do not. If your painting contractor is using a self priming paint, that information should be listed in the contract and he/she should provide you the data sheets on such a product so you can be aware of its use. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with your painting contractor.
