Cingular rebate rip-off! Internet
I too have fallen for the Cingular rebate scam (offer 5010-286-8986). Mine was for a $50 rebate card offer and a $50 rebate check. The rebate check came at around 12 weeks, but I have yet to receive the rebate card. Date of receipt by Cingular was the second week in April, 2004.
I've called Cingular several times at 1-866-852-8617, and have even been told the card has expired, the same card I haven't even received yet. I was given the number of the master card department, 1-866-297-3611, who had no record of my rebate. This department then gave me the number of "Extra Money," who supposedly gets the whole ball rolling, 1-888-398-7266 (9-4 Pacific time).
Extra Money does show they received all my information in April, but they haven't processed it yet. Why is beyond me! I, too, was told to resubmit, which is a little hard to do when you have to end in the "original UPC code from the camera box." I'm a rebate pro and have never, ever had this problem before. I do have copies of the rebate submission forms.
One CS rep gave me this person's name, supposedly the head of Cingular, to write a letter of complaint to: Young America, Attention: Curtis West, 18671 Lake Drive East, Chanhassen, MN 55317-9383. As if this would do any bit of good!
I cannot believe an attorney general hasn't jumped at this as an election is coming up!
