Citi financial auto inc. used fraudulent letters as a way to coax consumers who are unfortunate enough to be in the palm of there hands where they have employees awaiting there arrival so they can crush the consumer by threatning them with cruel and heartless harrassment.

This is what I recently encountered when I received one of there letters asking if I needed assistance with my auto payment.

My husband has been in and out of the hospital several times in the past year and we just went through a modification with their sister company....Citi Mortgage Co. where they raised our payments for the next three months due to the lack of insurance confidence backing.

My husband called this company first over the weekend. He spoke with a very nice lady named Jean who looked at our account and told him that she was sure he could get some help with our account. She gave him a phone number to call and told him to ask for a "Mr. Williams." My husband called this number only to find out that Mr. Williams was not our Case Manager and that whoever grabs or is given the case or file; that is who takes care of the given account.

My husband was then speaking with Hector Mata? (who knows if this is really his name), who asked my husband how he could be helped? As my husband began to explain what our situation was, Hector began to scream at my husband and threaten him over the phone. He told him that if my husband did not have at least half of the payments we owed, he would send someone to reposess our vehicle. As I heard my husband's emotions escalate while talking to this gentlemen, I told my husband to give me the phone.

After receiving the phone, I asked the person on the other end of the phone what the problem was? The gentlemen began to talk to me in a rough tone and manner and I had to tell him I would not be able to talk to him if he did not calm down. He said he would and then he began by telling me, "I told your husband what I was going to do." I then said, "First, you are not in a position to tell my husband what to do.

Second, we are calling you to find out how we can work this situation out and you have no right to scream, threaten or talk to us in the manner you are talking to me or my husband right now." He then said, "Ok, I will listen to you." I then was able to explain to him our situation. After I was finished, he started to yell at me again by yelling, "I already told you people that if you don't give me the $850.00 right now, I will send my man out to your house right now and you will have to surrender your vehichle."

As I continued to try to explain to him, but he probably did not hear me due to him yelling at me and threatning me at the same time, we did not have that amount of money on hand and I would have to see if we could make arrangements for that amount of money to be given to them.

We were under the understanding by the letter and the other person we spoke with that they would be able to help us by possibly extending our loan and making our payments lower so we could afford all the payments in the future.

He then screamed that he did not have anymore to talk with me about if I did not have any money for him and he slammed the phone down and hung up on me.

I wish these companies had not gotten the backing of the Government. They don't deserve it, especially if they are going to employ people who treat there consumers like this. This is crazy! How much sense does it make that they are getting backed by tax payers dollars so they can turn around and abuse the consumer who needs help? This makes no sense!

This person needs to be fired and all of the people who treat others like this do not deserve to have a job right now. There are too many people out of work, people who need a job that would be willing to talk with people in a nice manner about there situations. Even if the company is not able to help, the least they can do is act nice about it over the phone. This type of behavior is uncalled for and inexcusable!!
