Clemmons Chysler And Ford Dealership ripoff, fraudulent billing, failure to stand behind products Newton Iowa
Three years ago I bought a used 1999 Chysler Concord from a dealership in Newton Iowa. One year later the firm of Clemmons bought this dealership. (Cut to the chase) My engine a 2.7 litre locked up and blew up on a curve at 55 mph. No, it was not fun. I had the car towed 40 miles to my hometown garage. The mechanic stated it was a rod bearing. A common problem for the 2.7 installed in the Concords and the Dodge version of the car. In checking the NFSTA has alerts about this engine and thousands of complaints. Several class action lawsuits are in the works.
Now my other beef. The dealer (Clemmons, said they wanted to keep me as a preferred customer). But to help they'd have to inspect the engine. They could get me a "special discount on repairs". Well, I stated it had been checked out and what my mechanic said the problem was. Well I was told in order for me to get help only a Chysler certified mechanic could diagnose it. So they came, got the car. Towed it 30 miles to their garage. Said, yep it's a rod bearing alright. Well we can replace it for about $9,800 with a factory rebuilt engine. Since the whole car costed me $13,000 a year earlier I said no. Just return it to the garage in my hometown. I didn't have the money to get it fixed. Well one year later I finally saved enough to have my local mechanic put a used low milage engine in for $2600.00.
Then Clemmons bills me for the tow charge. $75.00. Then files a small claim and inflates that to $150.00. Of course Chysler has yet to stand behind the engine as well.
Not a way to keep customers.
I advise any and everyone to stay away from Clemmons Dealership in Newton Iowa. They are ripoffs!!
