CMK Construction Inc. CNK Construction giving nightmare and stress to another victim Oldsmar Florida
I found CMK Construction Inc. on Homeadvisor.com. I signed approximately 59K contract for a 360 sq. ft. room addition in the end of April, 2017. It is now the end of August, 2017, and they still cannot get a building permit only because they don't seem to know what documentation needs to be provided. So one day I went to their office to find out what the holdup was, It was an unscheduled visit, so I could not get any clear answers. I set up a meeting the following week including the president, Manny who then seemed to understand the situation and told me the permit would be resubmitted within a few days. It turned out the resubmitting took 2 weeks for them. And it still got rejected by the department due to insufficient and inadequate documentation. It's beginning to feel like this project will never get started.
In the meantime I went through the itemized estimate and its cost breakdown. Then I found many discrepancies in the estimate such as the floor sq. ft. being inflated to 471 sq. ft. instead of 360 sq. ft., wrong doors being estimated and inflated dimensions of the walls by not considering 1/3 of the addition being a screened room with no walls and big 4 panel patio door space which takes up 1/3 of the entire wall not taken out from the wall dimensions. I asked them including the president to fix these discrepancies at the meeting. Three weeks later the sales manager, Bob called me and gave me a revised estimate which this time changed the format and hid the cost breakdown and only showed the total amount of the job at the bottom with a slight reduction. I emailed and phoned back Bob to change the estimate back to the original format so I could see what he had changed. I have not heard anything back from him.
All of these experiences made me feel that they were being very dishonest, so I started looking for a possible legal solution. Then I found the report #1374386 on ripoffreport.com. posted by a victim who dealt with CMK and whose case sounded so similar to what I have been going through. However, the victim seems to have a resolution with CMK, and I would like to know how he came to the resolution. If possible, I would like to find a way to contact the victim for his experience and possible advice for me.
