Commerical Investigations, Inc Have you hear of a Collections Company not collecting for client but Collecting from Clients??? Van Nuys, California
On 12/4/08 I entered into contract with CII to collect $18,420.00 from a customer. Kimberly from CII told me that they contacted the customer and he would not pay us. Kimberly said that they would take them to court and collect all monies owed us and CII fees. Kimberly wanted $10,000 to retain the attorney and said it would be collected and returned to me. I could only offer them $2,000.00 for the attorneys and they took it. I sent them $2,000.00.
I called CII on 1/7/08 to get the status of my case. I spoke to Maryann and she stated that they had collected $4,000.00 from my client on 12/15/08. I ask why I was never notified. I then asked her when I would get the check and she said at the end of January 2009 because they only cut check on the 19th of every month. I then asked her when I would get the rest and she said she did not know. I told her since it did not go to court then I should get my $2,000.00 back. She said the attorney was used to obtained the money for me. I asked her what they did that cost $2,000 and why they did not collect it from the client as agreed before. She said she did not have the file with her and would call me back after she retrieved it. She did not call me back.
I called again on 1/8/09 and Maryann had forgotten about our conversation and transferred me to a supervisor named Amy Shears. Shears told me that the case had been settled for $4,000.00 and I would not get my $2,000 and from the $4,000 they would collect their fees. I was to get a call on the 19th of January to verify my address before the check got sent out. I would have never settled for $4,000 when I have a $10,000 bill for materials used on my customers job.
I have had 2 agency investigate for me and they don't even know who I am at Commercial Investigations, Inc. I still have not received my money. So the only collecting this rip off collection company did was collect from me!

This behavior is very much like Joseph Steven and Associates, in fact, the 2 companies have been linked here on the Ripoff Report. JSA burnt me too, took 3 years, but I did finally get my money. Contact the District Attorney's office in Ventura County CA and get ahold of Investigator Greg Askay. Tell him your experience with CII, and mention that they may be the same people. Belive me, they know about JSA, they have a fat file on them, and I think that CII is just another name to scam people to pay off those that they are forced to reimburse. Good Luck
