It is clear that Dell and Compaq/HP believe they can maximize profits through bad customer service. Outsourcing to India is just the tip of the iceberg. The push for higher profits has caused these companies to quit caring about post sales because you have limited choices - most all of which include talking to India about any problems. After my problems with Dell and various other companies that outsource to these morons, I verify the structure of every company I make a purcahse with - no more India for me. It is just disgusting how we are pushed off as consumers AFTER they have our money. No one person can make a difference, but individually we can each make a difference. Stop sorting companies like Dell, Compaq, Sprint, and the thousands of others that do not support us as suctomers and pass you off to India.

Yes folks, a couple of months ago, I received a check for $150, the price I paid for an exteneded warranty purchased through those wonderful people at HP/Compaq. The reason that I got my money refunded, almost two years to the day that it was set to expire, is because I told Carly Fiorna/CEO, that I would seek legal assistance because HP/Compaq sells extended warranties knowing that when the calls go to INDIA, the consumer will become so upset that we usually hang up in digust. This was my experience every time I called for assistance. I finally learned how to fix my computer by myself. Instead of getting sucked into another computer purchase, I found a site that sells chips. I upgraded my computer from a 700Mhz to a 1.3 Ghz, maxed out the memory to 768 of SDRAM, added a Pioneer DVD player for $60 and upgraded it to XP; it would not work with the Millenium Edition anymore, too many problems. Model 5wv254, one of the 5000t models from 1999/2000 year. So, the moral of the story is, don't buy one of these computers from any company until they guarntee you that they won't "outsource" your customer service to someone who hasn't got a clue what the heck they are doing. Don't fall for the hype or the rhetoric of advertising. They guys know how to push it to we consumers. While I am at it, I bought a new printer from Dell because my recent purchased Lexmark printer keeps screwing up. I told the salesman that I was so upset and fed up with Lexmark printers, my second one by the way. He just kept agreeing, and telling me what I wanted to hear. But wouldn't you belive, the printers that are sold to consumers as Dell printers, are made by Lexmark. No wonder - the thing is so cheap that you have to stand sideways to read text correctly. It is the model A920, don't buy any of them. Demand better from Michael Dell. STOP THE OUTSOURCING ALREADY!
