Contingent Network Services contracted me to replace some commercial electronic equipment. When I got to the job site I could not find the exact serial number specified, so a staff member from Contingent ordered me to replace a different unit.

So I spent the day crawling around on the floor replacing the unit as instructed. However, Contingent later refused to pay me for the job, claiming that I replaced the wrong unit. Contingent does not care that they instructed me to replace the unit, they simply refuse to pay anything, even to reimburse for the gas required to drive to the job site.

On a separate occasion I was dispatched to check a failed HVAC system. The problem was that a circuit breaker was tripping, so an electrician needed to be called. Contingent cynically refused to pay me for this claiming that I "did not do any work", meaning physical work, but I paid for gas to get to the job and send a couple of hours there.

My complaints to Contingent have been answered with contempt from Contingent staff. They ignore my complaints and simply reply that I have been paid.

You either don't work for Contingent in West Chester or you are on something.  They are the absolute worst & if you do work there, you are right there with them.  They rarely respond.  If they do, they put you off and never do anything to help get you paid.  What a travesty!

voicemail a joke

When CNS claims Accounts Payable is available and posts the extension, they fail to reveal this is an unanswered voicemail extension that says "if your call is regarding an unpaid invoice, send us an email."

Sending email only leads to broken promises to pay. Today is May 27, 2011 and I am still waiting to be paid for work done as a subcontractor in DECEMBER 2010. Accounts Payable (Scott) has stated 3 times in 6 weeks the check is being run next week. No payment received, no calls returned only emails.

I also did work for Contingent. They claim, in writting, to be net 60. I successfully completed a work order for them on the first week of December in 2009 and another the 3rd week of January 2010. I was paid for those invoices on the 3rd week of May of 2010. I wish I could say it was for thousands of dollars but it was for about a hundred bucks each. 6 months for them to come up with $200 is just silly. And yes, Scott Campbel is an arrogant smart alec who does not answer his phone, does not reply to emails in a timely manner, does not respond to voice mail, does not give accurate information, and does not respect or give a crap about the peole doing the actual work for that company. I wonder if the people of Fairhaven Church (check his facebook) know how he treats others.

BTW here's a little excerpt from an email I sent them (my side quoted only, not theirs)

I dont think you understand. I would be thrilled if you did the net 60. But every check I have received has been sent from 90 to 108 days after paperwork approval, not the 60 as stated in the contract.

Their reply was that they did understand and that their payment practices haven't changed in 20 years and wouldn't change in the future.

Avoid working for CNS.

Emails to the person who dispatched me on a call for them resulted in being referred to Scott Campbell at extension 471, but nobody or nothing answers the phone!  Still waiting on a check for a job completed and invoiced/approved on 12/02/2010.

I have to fully agree with the other posts here and on other sites about Contingent Network Services. From my experience, it seems they are in the business of ripping off IT professionals. They do anything they can not to pay for completed work. I bet are hoping you will just give up trying to collect the money they owe you so they don't have to pay. They are nice on the phone before you do work for them and very rude after the ticket is completed. Eventually, they will go out of business or change their name as IT professionals will only do work for them one time and never again. I wouldn't waste my time with doing work for Contingent Network Services.

All I can tell you all is good luck. I used to work for CNS and they get calls constantly about how people are not getting paid (and you are right they hide behind voicemail...first they will lie and say the person is busy but if you insist you want to talk with somebody they will just transfer you to voicemail). We would have trouble finding techs to go on-site or order products because we were so far behind in payment. They will pay if you say something like "I won't do this job until you pay for the last job" and they can't find anybody else in the area to do it. How they are still in business I don't know. All I can say is good luck!

Technician failed to follow instructions and completed unauthorized work.

Wed, August 06, 2008

We have investigated this thoroghly and believe Karma's not this person's real name. We have no record of anyone named Karma in our database of suppliers. The site that Karma eludes to as the subject of his (or her) complaint is in Portland, OR. We have no idea why he would post this as someone from Virginia but based on all work types and timelines in our database, this is the most logical location. The reason we believe that Karma's real name is "David M" is that he completed both types of jobs and this posting occurred only one day following a conversation he had with our operations team about not being paid for the UPS swap job as explained below. If this is in fact the subject of this posting the technician did not follow instructions and completed work that was unauthorized and there for was not paid (job #1). Details are shown below: UPS Swap: Job #1 Customer: ANF PON: 14038 Date of Service: June 18, 2007 Summation: he took it upon himself swap the UPS on the manager's PC and not as the work order stated. He was on-site 2 days and was paid for one of those two days. Closing Notes from CNS Operations: Tech offsite at 11:00 a.m. PDT. Tech was onsite to replace the UPS in the network cabinet. The tech misunderstood where he was supposed to install the UPS. He installed the UPS and connected the BO PC to use the Ups as backup power source. When I spoke with the tech the store was open and the UPS could not be moved to the proper location in the cabinet. The tech is aware where the UPS is to be installed tomorrow. The tech will be returning to the site and installing the UPS in the correct location. ANF will not be billed for this visit. Tech will be onsite tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. PDT. Tech did not know what a data cabinet was and he didn't understand the difference between a battery replacement within a data cabinet as opposed to a replacement at a manager's work station. HVAC: Job #2 Customer: ANF PON: 13549 Summation: Payment made in full for this PO and canceled check is on record. Closing Notes from CNS Operations: Tech offsite at 11:00 a.m. PDT. Please see closing notes and test results from Kevin at CNS below: Tech was onsite to troubleshoot the POTS HVAC connection. When the tech got to the store the Trane HVAC Panel had no power. The site has 2 Trane panels. In one of the Trane panels the tech located a switch labeled main power that was set to the off position. The tech moved the switch to the on position and the panel came up. Once power was restored to the panel about 5 minutes later circuit breakers in the store began to kick off. The store lost their lights on the sales floor. Since the HVAC panel was causing circuit breakers to trip we had the tech switch the main power inside of the HVAC panel back to the off position like it was when we arrived. If ANF has any questions in regards to this issue they can call me on my cell. Below are the ping results. Karma, please contact our accounting department if you have evidence to the contrary.
