Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
On October 3, 2004 I ordered the new DR leaf and lawn vac, on sale and with an extended warranty. On Oct. 4th they called to confirm the order and interview me on my intended use of the product and to find out what kind of mower I had. I told them I intended to use the product as a yard vac and intended to use it behind a utility vehicle. Well they said they could not sell me one if thats what I intended to use it for, because they had to warranty the product, and they required you to pull it with a lawn tractor. The product had not been tested in any other application. If the product wont work behind a utility vehicel or an atv, it must really be a crappy product. Besides that how I use the product after I buy it is my business. The last time I checked I still lived in America. You cannot offer consumer products for sale and dictate how the consumer will use the product, If I want it to be a big paperweight thats my business. I argued with customer service to no avail, they just would not sell it to me.

I filed a complaint with the BBB after they cancelled my order and then they deleted my account and are pretending it never happened. Well luckily I have the order number and order confirmaion in my inbox for proof.

The following was sent by Country Home Products to the customer on October 6, 2004: Thank you for your e-mail message. We're very sorry that your order for our new 7 HP COMMERCIAL DR LEAF and LAWN VACUUM was cancelled. On our website, we describe which types of riding mowers are compatible with the DR. But we understand that there may be owners who would prefer to forego the mower/universal deck adapter configuration and just use the optional 17-foot Vacuum Hose to pick up leaves and other debris. We checked with our Product Development group and they indicated that the 7 HP DR may be towed with an ATV. However, it is important that owners not tow the 7 HP DR faster than they would normally operate a riding mower (the 7 HP DR is not road-towable). In addition, the 5.5 HP and 6 HP PREMIER models should be towed only by a riding mower. We would be happy to provide you with our 7 HP COMMERCIAL model if you would like to reorder. Just reply to this e-mail message and one of our Customer Service Representatives will call you right away. If you ever have any questions or comments, please contact us online at [email protected] or call TOLL-FREE 1(800)DR-OWNER(376-9637) and one of our Customer Service Representatives will be happy to help you. Our call center is currently open Monday thru Friday, 8 am to 8 pm, Saturday 8:30 am to 5 pm, and Sunday 9 am to 5:30 pm, Eastern Time. In the event you require technical assistance, please call our Technical Support department using the TOLL-FREE number listed above (hours for Technical Support are Monday thru Friday 8 am to 7 pm, and Saturday from 8:30 am to 5 pm, Eastern Time). Thank you again for your message. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

I got an email fom CHP today asking me to reorder and stating that now they have decided the product is suitable for use behind an atv, and if I want to call and reorder they will be glad to sell me one. Their email contained a lot of disclaimers and advice for anyone wanting to use the product behind an atv. After my experience with this company and the number of times I had to email them and file complaintswith different agencies to get them to come around i really don't think I want to give them any of my hard earned dollars, I think I will be looking for an alternate product if one is available. If not i might consider going back to this company if they are the only game in town.

I have submitted daily letters via email to this company regarding this situation and their business preactices and they have failed to respond or attempt any resolution to the matter. I filed additional complaints with other entities today regarding this company and its business pracitces. In my opionon th ecompany is behaving very irresponsibly. I would think twice before making a commitment to purchase anything from this company. if customer satisfaction meant anything at all to them they would at least acknowledge reciept of a compaint and attempt a follow up if just to say they are looking into the matter.
