I purchased a 2006 Kia spectra ex in april of 2007 from Courtesy Kia of alliance. When buying vehicle they offered me the extended warranty plan that cost approx. 1300 hundred dollars.  Shortly after purchasing the vehicle it started shifting really hard between second and third gear, so I took the car back to them because it was still under the 60000 mile factor warranty.  They claimed to have fixed it, but it shortly started doing it again.  I then had to take it to Waikem Kia of Massillon, Ohio because courtesy was closed.  They claimed to have fixed the problem.  Well not even a year later the car is doing the samething.  I take it to the new kia of alliance and the car is now past the 60000 mile factory warranty and they tell me the car is a lemon and has had a faulty trasmission from the get go!  I said well I have the extended power-train warranty and then they proceeded to tell me they were not sure I can even use the warranty becuase of purchasing the car with  16000 miles I should have never been offered the warrenty.  So now I have been driving a car that shifts horribly and I they tell me I have to pay to have a new tranmission put in the car so I feel they should pay to fix the car if it is a lemon or because I PAYED for a extended power train warranty that cost about the same as it would cost to fix the d**n thing!  The car is so bad I cant even get anyone to take it in on a trade without putting about 4000 dollars down to get out of a car that nobody wants to deal with.

If this problem started within the factory warranty period and you can document that, then you might still be able to get Kia to honor their warranty.  You will need to contact the Kia zone office to pursue it.  As for the extended warranty...did you read it to see if the dealer is telling the truth?  This wouldn't be the first time some sleazy car dealer lied to a customer in order to slime their way out of warranty responsibility.
