When I signed up as a new customer with Cox Communications in Cleveland, OH area in April 2014 for Internet / TV / Phone service I was told that if "I signed up for 2 years I would lock in the monthly price of $105 - no price increase."
Great - did that and signed up for 2 years.
When I got my bill in April, 2015 it was increased to $145.00!
When I called them for explanation, they said that "the promotion to offer you the $105 monthly price you signed up for expired after 1 year".
I told them that I was told that when I signed up that if I got the 2 year contract my price would be locked in at $105 for 2 years. They then told me, "OH, that was to protect you from any price increase, but given that the promotion expired after 1 year, you're price increase is still going into effect because the promo expired"
HUH?
I repeated myself and said that "a price guarantee is a price guarantee - regardless if it was due to some fake promo, and besides, nobody told me that the price could still increase after 1 year after your fake promo expired" "Why would I sign up for 2 years then???"
No reply - just more double-talk about the 2 year guarantee was "to protect you from a price increase, but no extension of the promo avaialable when you signed up"
Again I repeated myself that a "price guarantee is a price guarantee, regardless of any supposed promo I was eligible for when I signed up, and OH, BTW - nobody told me that when I signed up!!!
To add insult to injury, the Cox rep then,"well let me see if there's any ""new" promos available that I can sign you up for then, and OH gee, I can offer you a rate of $128 / month now. Isn't that great?"
