Per a friend's suggestion, I visited CREDIT.COM for a payday loan. I looked through the entire site and found several things to make me trusting--physical address, security policies, VeriSign Secured, and Trust.e. I applied for an emergency loan and was pre-approved for ONE CLICK CASH.

At the ONE CLICK website, I completed another application that was approved immediately for $250. I electronically signed all the required forms and was imformed that I'd receive a confirmation email once my bank account info was verified.

The ONE CLICK website says that contact is made within the hour after completing application. It's been two days and I've received nothing--no email, no phone call. Per their instructions, I used the Contact Us form to get copies of the electronically signed forms. I also used the same form to submit my concerns about their lack of response to no avail.

Another friend helped me locate a phone number (800.756.3118) to call ONE CLICK. The representative at the center told me that ANOTHER unnamed company evaluated my application and approved the loan. He said that I'd receive an email at 11pm Eastern time with the details and the money would be deposited at midnight into my account. He verified my email address. I received neither the email or the funds. He also said that I won a bonus opportunity to apply for an unsecured credit card!

Today, I called Equifax to have a Fraud Alert placed on my credit file. It's probably too late. At any rate, I'm filing a complaint with the CA and NV Attorney Generals, the area BBBs, and of course, this fine website. These companies have all my personal and financial information to use for their benefit only.

In light of the possible fraudulent use of my credit file, the original emergency (it still exists) seems almost trivial. Beware.
