WOULDN'T CHANGE DUE DATES, CAUSING LATE AND OVER LIMITS FEES, AFTER A JOB AND PAYCHECK CHANGE.

I CHANGED JOBS TO BETTER MYSELF IN MARCH OF 2000. SINCE THEN, I HAVE REPEATEDLY WROTE LETTERS AND MADE PHONE CALLS, TO REQUEST THAT MY DUE DATES CHANGE, BECAUSE I HAD WENT FROM A PAYCHECK EVERY WEEK TO EVERY 2 WEEKS, AND COULD NOT MAKE THE PAYMENTS ON TIME THEN. I WAS NEVER LATE BEFORE, AND ALWAYS MAILED IN A LOT MORE THAN THE AMOUNT DUE.

I HAVE ALSO PAID MY THOUSANDS OF CHARGES DUE, TO A ZERO BALANCE IN THE PAST. I WAS NOT LATE WHEN I ASKED TO HAVE THE DUE DATES CHANGED. THEY ALWAYS GAVE ME SOME EXCUSE. I NEVER RECEIVED AN ANSWER TO ANY OF MY LETTERS, NOR DID THEY CHANGE THE DUE DATES. I CONTINUED TO MAIL MY PAYMENTS, EVEN THO THEY WERE CONSIDERED LATE. I HAD NO CHOICE.

DURING THIS TIME, MY BALANCES BECAME HIGHER & HIGHER, WITH MY PAYMENTS DOING NOTHING TO MY BALANCES. THEN CAME THE 20 TO 25 PHONE CALLS A DAY, FOR MORE MONEY. AS MY BALANCES INCREASED, PUTTING ME OVER THE LIMITS, SO DID THE CHARGES. I WAS CHARGED $50 EVERY MONTH FOR FEES, AND MY PAYMENTS OF $30 TO $70 DID NOTHING. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CONSUMER PROTECTION REGARDING THESE COMPANIES AND THEIR POOR UNFAIRNESS.

IT TOOK MONTHS AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN ANSWER FOR ONE. WITH CROSS COUNTRY AND ORCHARD BANK, THEY LIED THREW THEIR TEETH, ABOUT MY LETTERS, PHONE CALLS I MADE, AND ALL THE HARRASSING PHONE CALLS THEY MADE TO ME. AT THIS POINT, SEEING THESE COMPANIES DIDN'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT ME, AND I WAS PAYING MY BILLS, IN ALL FAIRNESS, WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR SOMETHING, WHERE I DID NO WRONG, IT LEAVES ME NO CHOICE NOW, BUT TO FILE CHAPTER 7, AND THEY GET NOTHING FOR THEIR RIP OFF TREATMENTS! CONSUMER PROTECTION TOLD THEM TO STOP CALLING, BUT TODAY AGAIN, I RECEIVED 4 CALLS FROM MR. GRAY AND MR. LONG.

IF NO ONE WOULD APPLY FOR THEIR CARDS AND THOSE THAT HAVE THEM, CLOSE THEM OUT, THOSE COMPANIES WOULD SUFFER LIKE WE ALL HAVE!! LET THEM SEE HOW IT FEELS TO PAY YOUR CREDITORS WITH NOTHING IN THEIR POCKETS BUT DUST!! ONLY WAY I SEE TO RID THESE "HELL" COMPANIES, OTHER THAN BANKRUPCTY. IF I DID THIS I WOULD BE JAIL! YES, I AGREE, START A COMMITTEE FOR THESE COMPANIES, TO RID THEM OF THEIR UNFAIR PRACTICES!! THANKS FOR YOUR SITE! WISH I WOULD HAVE FOUND IT BEFORE TODAY!!

I read through several of the comments made in regards to Orchard Bank AKA Household Bank. Orchard Bank was purchased by Household Bank about a year ago. I did want to say that when I requested a due date change they made it. In fact, although after my first request my account wasn't updated which in turned caused a late fee, when I called back and the representative saw the notation on my account, she reversed the late fee and changed my due date. This was prior to Household taking over. Seems like the problem is with HouseHold Bank. As far as Cross Country Bank, I could not agree more. They are rude, inconsiderate and rip people off.
