To Whom it may Concern: I'm not sure to whom i am writing this letter or why i am writing it at all, maybe it is just to vent the stress that i am feeling. I am an associate (collecter) at applied card systems (ccb). or in other words i was until yesterday when my site and ashland KY was utterly suprised when we were handed our walking papers and told that these two sites were closing there doors and over 1200 people are now out of a job. I'm sure that some of you may have even talked to me or one of my fellow associates in the past. I know as for myself that i treated each and every customer with respect and understanding about your individal situations on why you havent paid you cross country bill, due to job loss, death in family, upset about fees, or just plain didnt want to pay. never the less i have sympthized with you all. (even the ones who cursed me, blew air horns in my ear, or just plain out told me where to go) On the other hand i have talked to some very nice people while i was working there. i have talked to people along the way who has been severly beaten by ex-boyfriends and have been in the hospital for weeks on end fighting for there life, have lost loved ones and had to pay for funerals, people who were on disability, or had heart attacks and could never work again. on the other hand i have talked to people who are just upset about the fees they get when their bill in not paid on time or rising interest rates. (im sorry to say but everyone of you have signed a contract agreeing to these fees) i dont know how many of you will be happy because of my job lose and say now you know how i feel, and i dont know how may of you will sympathize for me and pray that i will get another job. i think what i really want to say is when we reported to work to do another day of collecing on past due accounts , we were interuped from our regular morning meeting to be told that the site is closing, here is last weeks pay check and will be compensated for 2 months severance pay and dont let the door hit you on the way out. I am in a small town in WV and this large amount of people being let go at one time will surely affect the town of beckley. many of us just like you live from paycheck to paycheck and are either single parents, newleyweds (which i am) single people who depend on their paycheck to live, or whe have loved ones such as disabled family members that we are takeing care of. I know what i have to do, which is what i have told many of you that i have talked to. Just keep my head up and know that God is going to take care of me and all i have to do is ask for his help. i dont know if this letter will affect anyone or not and i sure hope that it helps you or anyother person that was laid off from their job or applied card systems. To those employees at the Beckly site who i have become very close friends with i will miss you all and love you all very much. My God keep you in his loving arms and take care of each and everyone of you. to all the customers that i have met along the way may God do the same for you. Thanks for letting me get this out of my heart and may God bless you all. Patti Patti beckley, West Virginia

disgusted, I never talked ugly to the customers, or put any payments thru until the customer told me to.

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

Sun, November 16, 2003

hey just read the above statements, i agree with the first one that this is defintely a huge set back for those of us that worked for acs in beckley. I am still trying to find full time employment. My husband is disabled, I have 2 children, trying to make ends meet on unemployment does not work..I never talked ugly to the customers, or put any payments thru until the customer told me to. I was one of the top collectors in the site, and to be told that morning that we had no job was disgusting. I worked for them the day they opened until the day they closed. To not let us have any warning was so wrong, rocco obviously does not care about his employees at all...It is my understanding that now Huntington is hiring again. DISGUSTING.....

#3UPDATE Employee

Large Companys such as Cross Country Bank AKA Applied Card Systems come to our region and take advantage of our financial situations all the while receiving aide from State benefits for up to three 3yrs. Work shop tactics were used while pay was good( don't forgot the tax breaks they got). Employees were forced to lie cheat and steal from customers, without both employee and customer knowledge. Example: setting a Pay by phone up for the 3rd of month and the home office running it thru the bank on the last day of the month. thus Bounced ck for customer. FEES for the company. This Company was run on money they tried to obtain from fees overlimit and late. Customers are harressed not over money they owe and pent ont ehcard but, from fees caused by company's Planned Errors!!!Don't worry, Huntington,Pa and Boca will be next..the Lawsuits will roll!! What goes around comes around...so Bend over!
