On June 8, 2014 I was contacted by Scot Knutson, Cruz Carriers, to escort two loads from Houston, to Portal, North Dakota. I employed two pilots and we left Houston on June 10, delivering the loads to Houston on June 13. Total bill, $11,210.80. I was aware of issues with Cruz prior to taking the load, but had spoken to Scot directly about this and he had assurred me of quick pay.
The escorting was without incident, 4 days, two good drivers, and during the trip I asked the driver several times about Scot's reputation of not paying. He assurred me that while Scot is "slow" pay, he always pays. Well....it's now almost six weeks since we delivered, and Scot was paid by the trucking firm, Totran, for this load on June 18. I have called him, his office administraton, texted, and left messages. I am getting no response.
I have notified Totran, who Cruz was working for of my intent to sue both Cruz and Totran if not paid by July 30. I realize 30-45 days for payment can be normal in our business, but when you're dealing with someone who's reputation is so bad, and you can't contact them, quicker action is justified. If I am paid as requested by July 30 I will certainly post it here.

We finally were paid on Oct 12, 2014. This was from the collection agency we used to collect. However, without the help of ToTran I don't think the collection agency could have persuaded Cruz to pay. ToTran held back money due to Cruz until he paid us. Our next step would have been a lawsuit, but thanks to the fine people at ToTran, and the collection agency, after slightly over 120 days, we got our money.

Cruz Carriers is a small company, with a terrible reputation. It's been 90 days and after repeated promises, we still haven't been paid. Scott Knutson is a liar and a thief. He took the money he was paid by the trucking company to pay us, and used it to pay other creditors. He freely admits this and says "our turn" will come. I have talked with him over and over, and he has promised over and over to pay. Always asking for a few more days. We are turning this over to collections.
