Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I went to buy the body wash skin care product at CVS on Saturday, 5/21/05 at around 4:15 PM. The cashier, Savannah didn't allow me to buy this product with a $3 off CVS coupon. She said that I was there before and got the same thing. I then asked for a store manager. Her name was Kelly. I believe she was a fake manager because she didn't wear her name tag and she was wearing the same uniform as the cashier. Again, she didnn't let me buy that product with the CVS coupon. I then asked for their names and said I will report this to their headquarter. Kelly with her bad attitude, responded to me "Ok!" They humiliated me in front of the customers. How could they be assure that it was me again? I feel that I am not being treated equally. Why? Is it because I'm Chinese? A friend of mine also experienced the same thing. Why is this happened to us, but not to others? Is it because we are asians?

I immediately reported this to CVS Customer Relations Department by email. They followed up with me and told me that they will send my comments and concerns to the District Manager, Robert Sauer, to investigate this matter and I was told that he will contact me within 2 business days. He didn't call me until I finally got his contact number from my friend who also filed the complaint. Robert told me that the store manager, Rich, will call me. Rich did call me a few days later and told me that he will re-train his employees and I shouldn't have a problem using that $3 off CVS coupon. He also promised to send me the $3 off check to my mailing address. I also requested two individual apology letters from Savannah and Kelly. Rich said he will work on that for me, but as of today, 11/28/05, I still haven't heard or received anything from them yet. I will not contact CVS again, but I will report this to office of Massachusetts Attorney General and to the Better Business Bureau.

Not racial issue, computer issue

The way coupons work in CVS is that they print for a specific Extracare card. The computer then records which ones have been redeemed and takes it off your allowable balance on the card. If the coupon is already used then it prompts you on the computer saying so. So if you are issued a $3 dollar coupon the computer knows that it is outstanding until it is redeemed. Once it is redeemed if you try to redeem a different $3 coupon you may have been given by a friend etc. it will not work. You can not share coupons with relatives, and you can not reprint and reuse coupons. The extra care card given with the purchase must match the coupon code otherwise it will not go through. It is the computer that is rejecting the coupons. Also Supervisors do wear the same uniform as the cashiers, they just have different name tags. The actual store manager may be in business attire but all employees do alot of stock work so it depends on the day.
