dalys ad states 160 hours of schooling and gurantees a cdl licence

after 3 weeks of schooling. i payed them $3170.00 for schooling. i failed my permit test because class was rushed to take permit test the first week of school because of christmas holidays. we were promised 1 week of class room,1 week of yard training,1 week of driving.

i finally got my driving permit and went back to school everyday just to be sent home because of lack of instructors, training truck was in the shop, the weather was too bad to train.

this went on into feburary still no schooling. i was forced to go back to work because of no income.in march dalys told me they could train me now for my cdl licence. i cannot quit my job now to just possibly be put off again. i ask for a partial refund.

i have contacted them by mail and by phone but no refund. they were surpose to give me 160 hours of training but recieved only 83 hours of schooling. to legally recieve your cdl licence you are to complete 160 hours of schooling. i have been ripped off.

I just wanted to say thank you to Employee #2 who took the time to explain the circumstances surrounding Rebecca's situation.  I was almost discouraged after reading her report but given the stats, it sounds like Daly's will be a good choice after all.

Daly's Truck Driving School has been in business in the Atlanta Georgia area since 1992. We have trained over 8000 students in that time period and with the demand still high we will probably continue that pace in the future. In 2007 we trained and got 634 students licensed. 12 people were unable to receive licenses that year. Rounded up thats 2% of our students that made it thru school but were unable to get the CDL license. Rebeca is one of those students that unfortunatley regardless of how much time we spent with her in training she couldn't grasp the basics needed to get the license. At Daly's our students are tested at the end of the program at the State Test site by an independent state examiner. If you can't pass the states test you will not get your license. Period.... Rebeca went thru shool at Daly's 3 times at no additional charge. We contracted to train her for 17 days and after that at no additional charge restarted her twice with no improvement. We don't have to do that under the terms of the contract but chose to because we are interested in every student being successful. Unfortunatley that is an impossibility. We are licensed by the DDS in the state of Georgia and are not allowed to imply or state a guarantee to any student that they will receive a CDL license only that they will receive the service we contracted to perform for them. We fulfilled this with Rebeca. We have documented the days in attendance and no refund is due. Any truck school who guarantees you a license is misleading you greatly as a student and should be reported to thier licensing body immediatly. Daly's did no such thing and has a contract of enrollment signed stating no guaranteed CDL. www.dalystruckdrivingschool.com

First, let me ask you. Did you come here and read all the complaints about some of these trucking companies? If not, spend an hour and find out just what you're in for. A lot of people have this fairy tale idea of what trucking is all about. The actual job has little to do with the fairy tale. You see, I drove a truck for about 2 years. I made money doing it. That's not the problem. The problem is the number of hours that you need to spend on the job. Basically, you either drive or sleep. That's your life. But, if you're determined, go for it. You have a learner's permit, right? There are a handful of companies that will hire you right now and teach you how to drive the trucks. You get on a bus and go to their facility. You live in a hotel they provide. You drive until you are able to pass the driving exam. From there, you get in a truck with an experienced driver. The two of you deliver freight and get paid. You take turns driving the truck. After 6 weeks, the experienced driver will leave. Now, you have a choice of driving alone, or with another driver of your choice. You won't receive a salary until you actually pass the driving test and begin to haul freight. But, you're only talking about 2 weeks. They supply the motel. Sometimes, even 1 meal a day. About $200 should pay for your food for 15 days. After that, you'll start making money. As for the idiot school, first send them a demand letter. Next, is small claims. About $25 to $50 to file a claim. You get that back if you win. Sue for the value of the training you never received. Smart companies buckle and send you the refund once they get a court summons. Who has time to stop and defend themselves? They'd lose anyway. Search google for truck driver. Then, look on the pages for needs training. There are at least 10 companies that will hire you right now, just the way you are. But, do yourself a favor first. Read the complaints here. I don't want someone to get mixed up in something they aren't ready for. Trucking is hard. And, dangerous. People get killed every week driving trucks. And, the hours are long. The best advice I can give you is to go to a site called newbie driver. All one word. A woman driver wrote about her experience behind the wheel. She explains a lot more than I can ever do here in a few paragraphs. Good luck!
