I signed a contract with DRI in August 2003. This was prompted by the fact that I have a physical disability which at that time prevented me from writing checks every month to pay bills. Initially I agreed to allow them to retain my first month's payment as a retainer which would be refunded to me upon completion of the program. I had been very pleased with their services until May 2004. During that month I noticed that none of my creditors had been paid by May 26 when prior to that time they had received payments by the middle of each month. Upon calling to inquire about this, I was told the payments had not been made at all due to a "computer glitch." The payments were then made immediately due to my persistence.

This was very upsetting to me as I had never been late on a payment in my life and now due dates had been missed. However, the situation did not improve and each month the payments went out later even though their records reflected otherwise. As an example, during July payments supposedly were made on July 13 but they were actually not made until July 26. To make a long story short, the final blow came with the August payments which were supposedly made on August 10. With the August 10 payments, my creditors who were paid by check received their checks on September 8 (almost an entire month later). However, none of the electronic payments (there were three of them totaling $324) have as of this date been received by the creditors involved.

I have sent them a letter (by fax and certified mail) demanding that the $324 be disbursed to the creditors involved or refunded to me and I have also asked that my initial payment of $462 be refunded since they have violated the terms of their contract with me and made it impossible for me to continue using their services.

I am now left with trying to make up the past due payments and trying to repair my damaged credit rating. I have reported this to the BBB of Southeast Florida, the Attorney General of Florida, The Federal Trade Commission and my state Department of Consumer Affairs. I am contemplating filing civil litigation and perhaps attempting to get the media involved. This company needs to be stopped!!!

As of October 6, 2004, DRI did finally pay the three creditors who were to have been paid in August. This amounted to $324. Thank you, DRI. However, no mention yet regarding the refund of my initial deposit.
