After our "top-of-the-line" Dell died a premature death, we needed to replace it. Though we were not overly pleased with the Dell, after shopping we decided that Dell PROMISED to offer what we needed for our business needs. We received the new Vostro and hooked it up and right away...the monitor would not communicate w/the tower.
The nightmare began when I called Dell. I was on the phone all day...for days really. I did mention that we own a business....right? The first 6 or 7 people I spoke with could not or would not help me so they either transferred me to dead lines, rolling bizzies or they told me someone would call me back and they never did. One of their people hung up on me. The rudest little creeps on earth work for Dell. The hold times in between "live people" were really long and grueling but them I have to speak to some person with very poor diction try to blame it on Operator Error is insulting enough. Let's see...how can make insult into injury??? Just wait! They CAN DO! Of course all I heard from them was "I can't or I don't know or it's not my job". I started telling them not to even think of telling me they can't or don't! Out of more than a dozen people I spoke with only ONE person even called me back (Ann Barbola of the escallation team ) and the BEHEMOTH that is Dell started to grind slowly into some sort of motion...albeit wrong motion but action was at least an improvement. By that time, I had logged more hours on hold than some people work in a week at DELL. This was the worst torture!
The techs had me do everything from unplugging the unit, me calling my ISP to swinging from the FRICKIN' chandelier when I told them repeatedly what was wrong with it. Every single person made me tell them the whole story over and over and over and the compalints grew and the list kept getting longer and longer and NOT ONE OF THESE JERKS took notes or relayed my problem correctly. Everything that has ever gone wrong with Customer Relations in history will happen to you if you give Dell your money! 15 months later, Dell has ruined my mortal life. This is to WARN people! Do not buy DELL!!! You will be sorry. Even had a DELL tech tell me that they have an enormous amount of complaints with my Model and that some of their products were just bad. My husband and I were insulted when we got the letter to extend the warranty (dated when they shipped the BAD one NOT not when I could actually use my computer for the first time) because the tech support was SO EGREGIOUSLY HORRIBLE that we did not want to purchase something that equated to a torture device to use on ourselves!! Let alone that they cannot manage to get tech support that speak ENGLISH. How stupid is a company that deals in technology that does not understand that the phone DISTORTS sound!? Literally HALF of what these people told me I could not understand and then they get upset when I HAD to tell them I can't understand them and that 50 miles an hour does not help and to AT LEAST SLOW down. I will spend the rest of life telling people DO NOT BUY DELL!!! NEVER buy Dell! WE will NEVER make another mistake and buy Dell and we will passionately try to influence anyone who does...It could ruin your life too so DO NOT fall for their false advertising or the junk they call computers. Crappy pieces of metal!
By the time they got a technician out to diagnose it he says " YES you did get a FAULTY product"...I believe he put in refurbished crap because the computer never worked correctly So much so that I have my computer tech on speed dial. Now, after crashing 3 times just this year ...and losing all of my data...it died. I looks brand new sitting on my desk. WORTHLESS!!! DELL back-up??? You have got to be kidding? WORTHLESS! No wonder they told me when I bought it "oh you need another computer to back this one up...BULL$#!!
I HATE DELL and I HATE THEIR tech support and I would HATE their Customer Service if they had any. They will not make good and stand behind their product. I have an IBM & a Toshiba that are still working 10 years later and I would use them if platforms had not changed so much. I say buy Toshiba or MAC and save yourself the time, money and heartache. No wonder there are sights all over the place that say " IHATEDell ", "Dell Sucks" and "Dell Hell". Google it and meanwhile if you have been burned by Dell...warn at least 50 people and we can prevent others from being screwed by Dell in the future!
Now there are FOUR oxymorons for the 21 Century...common courtesy, common sense, Politicians are Public Servants and Dell tech support!
