Direct General should not be allowed to handle insurance claims. They put the work off on your insurance company to get your car repaired. They state they do not have enough people to follow through on a claim and if you want your car repaired you can go through your insurance company and let them handle the proof. This should not be allowed. I filed a claim and their adjustor could clearly see that it was their insured person's fault. When I contacted their office they stated they did not have enough help to check this out and if I wanted my car repaired I would have to go through my insurance and let hem handle it. Therefore, I am stuck with paying my deductible and rental even though the accident was not my fault.

When you turn this over to your insurance company, after they investigate and determine it was the other guy 'a fault, they will pay to have your car fixed including the deductible. Once that is done, they will go after DG for reimbursement of their costs.
