Two days before we moved from Fort Myers, FL to Tennessee, I made my auto insurance payment at my agency. I talked to the agent about my move and then left. I was in a rush, having to do a million things before we moved.

A few weeks later, I went to the local Tenn. agency to make another payment and transfer my insurance to the new state. Lo and behold, my policy was cancelled! Agent at that branch would do NOTHING. Not even make phone calls.

Very long story short: Twenty calls later...Agent admits to branch manager that he "forgot" to give me a receipt and didn't turn the money in. Branch manager very unapologetic but said he had cleared it with headquarters and I would be credited with payment. Never happened. Spoke to customer service and they said they knew nothing about it.

This happened in October, 2005. Still no money.

Direct General wanted to hire me as an agent when I got to Tennessee. Needless to say, I found employment elsewhere and switched to Progressive. Payments come right out of my bank account!
