My wife has a credit card with these scum. Due to being laid off she has had a decrease in income. She has tried making minimum payments by check but they have held her checks for days until there is a late fee.

When I have attempted to pay enough to get the account under the limit over the phone using my debit card, they have refused, stating they do not accept phone payments. What century are they living in? She has gone over the limit with them by them charging $70 a month for late charges.

Thus, they have pushed her over her credit limit and now are charging additional "over the limit" charges. They call daily and insist that they don't, that they only call weekly. Yesterday they called 4 times and already have called today. They are verbally abusive and rude.

I have told them I am refinancing my mortgage and that they will be paid in full in 2-3 weeks. They tell me that that is not good enough and "by law" they are required to keep calling me. What law is that?

I am going to pay them off up to the credit limit and if they want more they can talk to my lawyer. Direct Merchants Bank is a pure scum sucker that gives all other credit card companies a bad name. Thank you for reading this. Jim Charmley
