History

On November 11th, 2013, Mr. Shields asked Discount Garage Door’s, Inc. to come out to his home and give Mr. Shields a quote for installing (2) two new garage doors to his home.

Mr. Shields was given a quote for a front garage door costing: $1,291.00 dollars and $1,176.00 dollars for the rear garage door.  Mr. Shields mentioned to the Salesmen that he would like to receive the discount coupon of $50.00 dollars off as plainly seen on his website, www.dgdoors.com.  The Salesmen noted to Mr. Shields that the office would take care of it on the final billing as he forgot to note it.  Mr. Shields told him that would be fine.

The total for both doors came to: $2,352.00 dollars. The Salesmen asked for $1,176.00 dollars, 50% up front to order the (2) two garage doors and the balance due of: $1,176.00 dollars at completion of the work.  Mr. Shields said that would be fine.

Mrs. Shields authorized her chase visa credit card for only the upfront 50% to order the doors, totaling: $1,176.00 dollars.

On Friday December 05th, 2013, the Installer (Tavis) came early in the afternoon.  After starting the installation Tavis asked Mr. Shields if Mr. Shields would want to upgrade the rollers and bearings to the doors and this would also cover a 30 year added warranty.  Tavis told Mr. Shields that the upgrade would be $400.00 Dollars, but Tavis could give Mr. Shields this upgrade for only $360.00 dollars.  Mr. Shields said, no!  And then Travis told Mr. Shields that he could give Mr. Shields a deal and let Mr. Shields have the rollers for $20.00 dollars apiece, bearings for $20.00 dollars apiece and warranty for only $275.00 dollars.  Mr. Shields told Tavis to install the upgraded rollers and bearings, but would take the cost up with the office Monday morning about these high prices.  Tavis agreed.

On Monday morning of December 06th, 2013, Mr. Shields placed a call to Ms. Allison Grotheer, (Title unknown), but the person of contact at Discount Garage Doors, Inc. to make payment and to dispute the over charged amount of $275.00 dollars.  When Mr. Shields question the cost and asked for a cost break down, Allison told Mr. Shields that she would take the original balance due of: $1,176.00 dollars over the phone.

Mr. Shields asked Allison to send him a new bill stating that $1,176.00 dollars was acceptable and Mr. Shields would be happy to have Mrs. Shields authorize the Visa chase credit card, Allison got irate and demanded the money.  Mr. Shields told Allison that he would pay the $1,176.00 dollars by US Mail and then Allison hung-up the phone on Mr. Shields.

From what Mr. and Mrs. Shields have pieced together, at that point Allison Grotheer immediately accessed Mrs. Shield’s credit card account with-out any authorization and charged the full amount of: $1,451.00 dollars from Mrs. Shields credit card account.  “This is theft by Discount Garage Door’s, i.e  by Allison Grotheer.

Unaware that Allison was taking money out of Mrs. Shields cc account at the time, Mr. Shields sent an email to Allison that he would be sending Allison a check for $1,176.00 dollars.  Mr. Shields sent the check certified mail return receipt on December 07, 2013.
