I was just sold a pair of Dogg Digital Audio 2002 speakers model DA600SL today. Three white gentleman tell me to pull over in the parking lot. They were in a white van. They were really nice people and they said that they were picking up some speakers for their boss at their job and the warehouse gave them 4 PAIRS instead of 4 speakers (which is what was ordered).

The box said $1500 each and since i work at Circuit City i knew the specifications were quite nice as well. He asked for $500 each and I just laughed and started walking away then he asked to give as much as I could spare honestly.

(He says he wanted to use the money for some partying that night and later on and use the rest of the money to store the speakers until he could get a chance to sell them on E-bay or something like that for closer to what they're worth). I told him all i had was 400. I was just wondering if i could get money back for these speakers.

The first time I witnessed this particular scam was around 1984. A good friend of mine bought a pair of speakers from 2 guys in a white van who told him the warehouse had given them an extra set. He wanted a pair of cheap speakers, they claimed they didn't want to bring the speakers back to the warehouse. Yes they were junk but guess what? My friend thought he was getting a deal because the speakers were hot. The "salesmen" in the van cruise parking lots preying on peoples greed. If they were inadvertently given an extra pair of speakers, not returning them is theft. I've had employees steal from me, my house has been robbed and I gave up trying to keep a stereo in my car. I'm not happy this scam exists but I hope it makes one more people think before buying goods that "Fell out of the back of a truck."

Sorry, Jeremy, but you are out of luck. I wouldn't bother trying to unload the junk on e-Bay unless you want to take a loss. I counted over 20 sellers of Dogg Digital & its variants last week on e-Bay. I e-mailed about 10 of them, and all but one had similar stories to yours. They all wished they'd known about the scam before they bought. One seller claimed ignorance (he's asking the "full list price" quoted on Dogg Digital's website). He claims to have gotten the equipment "retail" (yeah, right!). You could try a pawn shop, but I have read posts from pawn shop owners who won't touch the junk. And then, if you have a not-so-good friend for whom you'd like to do a favor, you could always sell him some great audio equipment cheap...
