I purchased a certified used vehicle from Don McGill Toyota of Katy on 6/19/18. Everything went well until the finance person got involved. He added Apex (GPS tracking service), Blue Steel (paint, key, tire, etc.) coverage, and service contract charges that were not discussed and that I had expressed no interest in. None of the options were explained during the signing process and I was under the impression that I was signing off on what we had agreed to. When I setup my online account with the financing company, I noticed that the loan amount was $5,000 higher than what I thought I had agreed to sign. After further inspection, I found the added charges. I've contacted all third party service companies, as well as the dealership, and it appears that I can only cancel the service contract. Apex was listed as a dealer installed option and the Blue Steel warranty specifically states that you only have 10 days to cancel. This is a very deceptive practice and it's obvious that the dealership has no interest in the customer's best interest. I specifically purchased a certified vehicle with a built in warranty as I never purchase these types of services. Buyer beware!

The director of sales reached out to me and we were able to rework the deal to a satisfactory compromise.

As per your own report, here's what YOU did. They presented you with a CONTRACT which contained all the line items of extra price. YOU didn't even bother to use COMMON SENSE to read exactly what you were obligating yourself to and you just signed where they told you to sign. All bet you didn't even bother to look for any bogus fees like hindereds and hundreds of dollars to do paperwork, did you? Should every dealership be honest? Of course they should but every person who buys from them needs to use COMMON SENSE and READ exactly what they are signing BEFORE they sign anything! "Predatory financing" is just a lame excuse to cover up your lack of common sense. Anybody with half a brain READS the contract BEFORE signing it! Go ahead and get mad and by the way, I don't work for them!
