Many physicians charge for paperwork to be sent outside of the office. I also know this physician and his father professionally and consider them to be the very best. They have taken care of all of my family for years using professional ethics and manners above and beyond the expected. He personally intervened and advised me this past year and probably saved my mother's life. He is one of the best. He is a rare and compassionate doctor.

... it's called business. Doctors do not work for free. If you need copies of your medical records, facsimile services, prescription refills, and you FAIL to ask for these services at the time of your scheduled appointment, then most doctors anywhere will charge you. Get over it! This is why it is advised to bring a list of everything you need to talk to the doctor about, and everything you need the doctor to do for you, to every scheduled appointment, so you can take care of these things ONE TIME while you are in the office. Having the doctor run around 2 or 3 additional times is going to result in an additional charge. Common sense, pal.

Alot of doctors do charge for medical record or faxing copies. They have to pay someone to do it, so they pass the cost off to you. My primary doesn't charge for records, but my pain doctor does. As for calling in your insulin, that's just ridiculous for him to treat you like that. Some doctors just do not have very pleasant, so called bed side manners.

Doctors are allowed to charge for the cost of copying and faxing your records to another physician. Sorry no rip off there.
