Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
This is the email that I received after being interviewed. They prefer that you purchase their materials for $299, but in reality they are not a credible organization and not recognized by any of the fitness centers or health clubs.

I have sent the compensation agreement on a separate email. I'd like to also provide some more insight about the position itself. The primary responsibility of the Personal Trainer Instructor is to ensure the competency of our program by supervising and instructing our exercise course. There is one exam each student is required to pass in order to obtain their personal trainer certification. The exercise course is very beneficial in preparing them for the portion of the exam that focuses on exercise program development.

The exercise course consists of five one-on-one, 1-hour classes. Instructors are responsible for following the curriculum illustrated within the course syllabus. Instructors are often required to meet with fitness facility owners to assist in program initialization. With the exception of also scheduling the course, there are no additional responsibilities outside of what I have mentioned in this description.

As far as workload is concerned, our expectation is for you to work a minimum of 25 hours a week at $50 an hour. Some fitness clubs will do better than others and so if you are not able to commit to more than 25 hours a week, be sure to indicate that in the weeks to come, so that we can prepare for any voids in terms of recruiting another instructor for the area if need be.

At this point, you will need to schedule the written exam. We can give you several weeks if you need to brush up on any of the subjects or you may schedule it as early as next week. You may take the exam free of charge, as it is a job requirement. Some people wonder if the study materials are free too.

Unfortunately they are not because they are not a job requirement. The primary reason is because in the past, we have experienced people simply coming on board just to take advantage of the free personal trainer program. Many of them have used the certification to start up their own personal training business, which is fine but our primary goal is to have our instructors service as many of our students as they do their own personal training clients. The study materials are avaiable to everyone and we have a full reimbursement program for those who prioritize their instructor position. The program returns the entire purchase price of the study materials on the instructor's first paycheck.

There is more information about the study materials reimbursement policy on your contract and on the order page. The password to view the reimbursement page is (ptinstructor). If you would like to order study materials, the order page is located on our web site. There is a section on our web site that states, "Study Materials". The study materials that apply are the ones titled, "Personal Trainer".

I have also included as much information about the exam as I can to assist you. See below.

Excerpt from exam (Multiple choice, 150 questions, two-hour time limit):

BEWARE OF THIS ORGANIZATION! They post ads stating that they have part time or full time positions for Personal Training Instructors to work as independent contractors and they will pay $50/hr. FALSE! They require you to take their Exam (and suggest you purchase their study materials which cost around $200). They will not give you any credible fitness organizations that they are affiliated with and they are not recognized by the NCCA. There are many postings on-line fromo ther trainers about this scam. The two names associated with this group are Jay White and Donna Uyehara and will call you from a 949 area code. Several Personal Trainers have taken the test have not received a passing grade nor have they been employed. It is a shame that there are people in this world who have no integrity. After they do two phone screens, this is the email they send: I have sent the compensation agreement on a separate email. Id like to also provide some more insight about the position itself.
