Recently eBay advertised a 10% DISCOUNT Promotion on their home page.
They openly posted the discount code CFALLSAVINGS10P for anyone to copy and enter into the voucher box at the online checkout.
Many users bought items thinking they would get this discount at checkout, only to learn that it wasn't accepted as a valid code.
Customer service pointed out later that the "fine print" stated it was only a code to be used by ebayer's that received an email with the code or a message on their "myebay" page .
Well, guess what, both the user's that actually recieved e-mails and received the offer "splashed" on their myebay pages, reported that the code didn't work either.
The offer was supposed to last until Oct 30th, but due to the outcry of compaints, the advertisement was removed from the site, and ebay customer service refused to offer anything at all to users that questioned the discount.
Many users reported that they just went through with their purchases without the discount which seems to be the tactic the company planned in the first place.
I refused to pay for my purchase and will never buy or sell on the site again because of their sleazy tactics.
