In February of 2011, my wife rented a car from the Enterprise Rent-A-Car location on Old Minden Rd in Bossier City Louisiana.  The girl from enterprise brought the car to my wifes school at 2:20 PM just as my wife was trying to get her students out of class and on the bus or in the car pool line.  She had to run over to the car and look around the car to make sure everything was ok.  This was dome in a great hurry because of the time.  My wife signed off that the car was ok and that was it.

a week later she returned the car to the Enterprise on Bert Kouns in Shreveport LA about 15 miles away because it was across the street from the Ford dealer where her car was being fixed.  The guy came out to inspect the car and said that there was damage to the top of the car resembling hail damage.  It was all over the top of the car but it was barely noticable if you weren't looking for it.  We had the car for a week and never noticed it.

Later we got a letter saying we owed over a thousand dollars to repair the damage.  This damage was there before we rented the car.  It never hailed or even rained when we had the car.  It covered the top of the car so its not like my wife put a box or something on top of the car while loading or unloading.  We are a normal family, we don't drive through areas where there are falling logs or baseballs and we dont let kids jump on top of our cars.  The car was garage kept the entire time that we had it.

They said that if we did not pay then they would send this to collections and go on our credit report.  This is extortion.  I told them that if that happened then I would file suit on their company.  I asked for the rental history for the car so that I could do some research to see if there had been any hailstorms in the previous locations where the car was rented and they refused to help me.  They have also had the car fixed but it is no where to be found on carfax.  There were a couple of things on carfax that had been done like service work after it had been fixed.  I wonder if they will disclose this to any buyer that comes along when they sell.

This whole situation puts a bad taste in my mouth and I tell every one that I can to not rent from Enterprise or any or their subsidiaries.  I am in business for myself and this is not the way to treat your customers.

My wife had a good point earlier.  She said what if there was a 80 yr old lady with poor eyesight and she signed of on the car missing damage like my wife did would they take advantage of her too?  Probably.
