etax.com uses bait and switch tactics to lure consumers to their website. etax.com advertises that you can e-file your taxes for free. etax.com then charges 19.95 to uses their services in addition to a 29.95 cpa review fee, plus a 24.95 tax preparation fee. so the minimum charge for filing taxes with etax.com is in fact almost $75. also, if you choose to have your refund direct deposited there is a 32.95 bank transfer fee. So that is actually over $100 to file your taxes - not free. etax.com also has an F rating with the bbb. anyone who does business with etax.com is just asking to get ripped off. stay away from etax.com
it is also very likely that etax.com is a phishing scam designed to capture personal information.
who would spend over $100 on a service that was initially free? not me. however, etax.com asked me to enter all of my personal information including social security #, dob, drivers licence number and checking account numbers in before i even found out about all of the hidden fees! and now they have all of my personal information too! i would not be surprised to find out the entire etax.com website is a hoax to trick people into submitting sensitive personal information.
