I signed up with the Events and Adventure office in King of Prussia, PA. The pitch sounded legit enough and the company seemed like they offered alot of fun events.
That was until..... I found out from a rep from the corporate office in Ft Lauderdale FL that E&A does in fact offer a 3 day cancellation option if you dont feel the group is right for you. When I finally got ahold of the rep from my home office, she told me that was not true.
Hmmmm....funny enough I was finally able to get a hold of her after the 3 day option had lapsed. She gave me some story about them moving office space and not being able to answer the phone when I let her know I had been trying to call since the day after I signed up, giving two weekdays in between getting in touch with them today. But magically, oh, this was the day of all days that were "moving" to a different office space.
She also mentioned that they were not able to get on their computers becuase of the move, however the day before she was posting on their Facebook page.
I was told there were plenty of people my age who attend these events (I am in my early 30's). Judging from pictures I've seen via the Facebook group, everyone appears to be in their 40's and 50's.
They say they cater to very well to do people to ensure member quality. The red flag should have gone up when they approved my application when I am far from being well to do.
In short, the sales rep conveniently failed to mention the 3 day option to cancel and then conveniently wasn't able until AFTER that lapsed. I am out 1,500 because of their lies.

We are so sorry to hear all of this. However, we have to treat all members the same in accordance with our cancellation policy, which is stated directly on your contract. All members must sign in agreeance that they have read and understand this policy, which binds the individual to the term listed. The 3 days you mention is merely a 3 day Right of Recession which is standard on most contracts in the state of Pennsylvania. Should a member move away and/or get married, it is our policy to pro-rate a remaining portion of the membership fee back to him or her. In both instances, we would require documents showing proof of the move, marriage, etc. This is also listed directly on the contract.
We send members home with a carbon copy of their signed agreement. We do this to both legally protect ourselves and also so that any member who chooses to exercise their 3 day Right of Recession can do so without having to speak to someone in the office, just in case they are unable to reach someone right away or their Member Director is sick or on vacation, etc. In this sense, you absolutely had all the information necessary to send your cancellation letter postmarked within the first three business days. Your claim that you were unable to reach someone in the office during our move is legitimate, and a rare example of why we make sure to list our full policy right above the signature portion of our contract and then send you home with this information at the onset of your membership.
