I paid for Fadalla's to repair my a/c in my truck. They replaced my evaporator core, which required that they remove the dash assembly in my truck.

Now my dash has two huge cracks in it. I went back to them and they said it was already cracked.

They told me that it is standard practice to notify the customer that the dash is cracked prior to doing the work, so that they are covered. However, they did not tell me, nor did they mark that on the bill/receipt. They did not tell me that the dash was cracked, because it was not cracked.

My dash was in excellent condition prior to them doing the work. They broke the dash while repairing my a/c. They removed the dash to do the repairs, now my dash has two huge cracks in it. If they had really noted cracks prior to the a/c repair, they would have told me so.

I have spoken to the owner, Vince Fadalla, and he will not remedy the situation. A new dash is over $1,000.

Not everyone lies. I never said you lied. Most are misinformed, like James in Canada, who thinks we supplied Germany with their weapons during WW2. Others, like Todd in SC, who eats food without paying for it in a WalMArt and gets caught...he's a liar. There is a difference. You say your husband gets paid for the full amount of labor time while working at a dealership. I have proven he does not. And again, ALL dealerships operate the same. The owner of the dealership follows the rules and policies set forth by the manufacturer. This ensures all customers get the same service at all dealerships. You say your husband gets paid for the full amount of actual labor time. Great. He is the only one, and works at the only dealership that pays more to the mechanic than it collects from the factory. He must be the greatest negotiator in the world. As for your concerns for my self-esteem, don't bother. I am quite happy with my life. I live in Florida and North Carolina. I also have a place to stay in Maryland and access to one in Tennessee. Social Security? Fat chance of that even being there when I retire. I plan on living quite comfortably off of my repair shops. Job jumping? You bet. When I get bored with something, I look for another challenge. After I have mastered that, I move on again. I always the shops as back up if I want to get dirty again. I got a free mortgage through my work experience, did you? I do hope you and your husband are not planning on retiring with a GM backed pension. I hope he has his own plan set up. GM is paying more for pensions than anyone else. Lots of companies are going under because they have too many pensioners and not enough profits to cover them all. Toyota just got permission to bail on a bunch of them. Working for the same company does not mean you will have a better retirement than anyone else. Ask all those poor fools who went down with Eastern Airlines, and TWA.

Again, Robert, you know everything. However, thank you for not running me down and why do you think I am lying when I KNOW EXACTLY what happens at my husband's work? Why do you think everybody is lying with all the post around this website that you respond to? I don't get it! And also, since you live in Florida and I live in Washington, fat chance that you know what happens up here in the North West. I worked there until we had kids. This is my last post to you because you are the type who always has to have the last words. And, anyone who runs others down to make themselves feel better about themselves has low self-esteem. Seek a counselor now. And also, you have had a myriad of jobs and experiences! People who want to settle in life stick with one kind of job such as my husband and I in orer to retire with good retirement and no rely on Social Security and don't jump around looking for what suits them best. These are my last words to you on this website because we all know the kind of person you are! Have a nice day!

Your husband works for Chevrolet, so I'll use a Chevy as my example. You can check the numbers if you'd like. I will use an engine mount replacement(two) for a 99-00 Corvette. The factory time is 3.4 hours. The ACTUAL time is 5.2 hours. As I said, dealership mechs work 60 to get paid 40. I have worked at dealerships too. In order to get actual time for a job, the mech has to have worked there for years and then argue with the service manager. It's not worth it. Cylinder head gasket on a 97-01 Impala. Factory time is 6.2 hours for both. Actual time is 9.4 hours. That's 1/3 less time than the job requires. That equals 1/3 less PAY to do the same job. I have buddies who work for dealerships still. They know they're getting screwed. The only thing they have going for them is seniority(they pick what they do) and the infamous "team system". Teams are divided into job groups. One guy does nothing but A/C repairs. Another does timing belts. Another does blah blah blah. This system was designed to inrease profits for the factory. If all the mech does is the same repair over and over, he'll figure out the "cheats" I spoke about. I can tell you how to do a head gasket on a Neon in under an hour. Chrysler(the rest are the same) is down to paying 2.5 hours "factory labor" for the evaporator on a 5.2 hour actual labor job(Intrepid). Any way you cut it,that sucks for the mechanic. This means the factory(dealership) is being run by people like Ben(from California). He believes mechanics should get paid less as they get faster. Apparently, the factory does too. And yes Shari, ALL dealerships ARE the same. My shop is also NOT listed in here. All of my competitors are though. As for running down everyone, that is not at all accurate. I run over the stupid and help the needy. There is a difference. The stupid are the ones who want to believe they can get 4 wheel brake jobs for $80. The needy are people like Todd, who I offered logical assistance to his problem. I have had others fax me invoices from other companies and shown them how they were jacked, if at all. The stupid include guys who boost their Neons to over 3 times the factory Turbo Boost and then whine because the engine and/or drivetrain let go. The needy are the ones who sign work orders for one amount, then pick up the car and discover the bill is twice as high. The stupid are people who pay $thousands$ to some Jabroni who promises to cast a spell for them, and expect something to actually happen. The needy are the people who have foreclosures looming because the "paper" is bad and the homeowner doesn't know that they can stop it by requiring the mortgage company to prove the loan papers are legit. In recent events, the stupid are people who choose to live 12 feet below sea level, and complain when they drown. The needy are the people who made better choices and still had their homes ripped from the ground because of the wind. Bring back dinosaurs and you'll discover the difference quickly.

I forgot some things here: Robert, I don't understand why you always have to run everyone down that are giving sincere posts. I try not to do that. However, you do seem to KNOW everything in all of your posts all around this website. And, how do you KNOW everything about every single shop in the U.S.? Not all dealerships are the same. My husband works for an honest dealership and he's not paid a "portion" of what he makes. The books call for a job done in four hours and he does it in 2 hours, he gets paid for 4. That's normal flat rate work. Am I wrong? He doesn't work his butt off for 50+ hours a week. The work is just there and he does it in 40 hours. And I don't care who you are, every mechanic has come backs. If there are too many; guess what, you are fired or let go. He has been at the same dealership for years and they are NO WHERE on this website. Why do you think that is? Biddle Chevrolet to be exact. Also, do you know what a General Motors World Class Mechanic is? He earned that this year. Check out GM's website and see how many there are in the U.S. Not very many. I believe you are well-rounded and know some things, but PLEASE stop running people down. It's been my experience that people who do this are not very happy people.

OK Robert.... I DID NOT say that my husband didn't do these kinds of repairs.

Robert: First off, let me tell you that I DID NOT say that my husband didn't do these kinds of repairs. I said he didn't crack dashboards. Read my post. The second thing is, OK, I will give you credit that you might know some things. And third, he has NEVER worked 60+ hours to earn a living. He works flat rate at a Chevrolet dealership and earns over 50 hours a week and only does it in 40 hours. He very seldom ever works more than 30 minutes over his regular shift. Have a nice day Robert.

There is no reason the dash is cracked. The entire assembly is supposed to be removed in it's entirety. What the mech did, was to undo it as little as possible, then push up to gain clearance. This is a "cheat" that they get away with sometimes. This time, the cheat did not work. By the way, if you have less than 100K miles on the truck, you should have taken the truck back to the dealership. Chrysler began a program where they replace the evaporators as a warranty repair up to 100K miles. I would suggest you take the truck back to the dealership and ask them to give you an estimate detailing WHY the dash is cracked. Take that back to the repair shop and inform the owner that you will take him to court if he does not make it right. You may get nothing, you may get another dash installed. While you are there, ask him to provide you with license of the mech who worked on your truck. ALL mechanics who perform air conditioning service and repair are required to have a license. The license is simple to get, so there is no excuse for not having it. The fines that NOT having it are rather expensive though. As for Shari, I could not care less what you think of me. I actually do know alot about alot of different subjects. This is through education. You may want to look into this, like maybe an English class. If your husband works at a dealership as a wrench, he DOES do these things. I don't. I also get paid for 100% of the labor time, not a fraction of it. My mechanics get paid for the entire labor time, not a fraction of it. Dealership mechs end up working 60 hours to earn 40. This is in ALL dealerships. The less time the mech gets paid for, the less work he will do. That is why "cheats" are invented. He's a Master Mechanic, eh? He's a brand of tools? That's interesting, to say the least. Is that snide enough for ya? I've been a MASTER TECH(ASE designation) since 1981. I've been a Marine, a Mortgage Banker, an OTR Truck Driver, car salesman, and a myriad of other things in life. This is called, gaining experience through living. It is this experience and education that allows me to make good choices in nearly everything I do. You may wish to look into that. As Todd can attest to, I help those who need help. I also flame those who are just too stupid for words. Write bad checks? I'll clue you in. Believe in Psychics? Ditto. Acting irrationally? Same again. Have fun in life Shari, I do.

Robert: I read these ripoff reports to get a good laugh when I need one. It seems that the more I read the more "rebuttals" come from you in Jacksonville on many different subjects and you seem to know everything. All of your rebuttals are snide and know it all attitude. Get a life! My husband is a Master Mechanic and now GM World Class Technician that he earned this year and has yet to crack a dashboard on these types of repairs. He makes $30 an hour and he certainly wouldn't have a job if he did these kinds of shoddy work!
