I have been reading all the reports with fairbanks and the many names that they have had over the years. I feel for each of you because as I read the stories it brought back painful memories each sounded like mine. I had to deal with the money suckers for 9 years and not by choice my loan was sold before we made the first payment to the company that we signed with. We got information that our loan was sold and we would receive the paperwork on payment dates etc. The paperwork came approx. 2 months later and from the very first payment we were now behind on our payments. When we made our payment it went to an account that was set up to "store our money" because it appeared they added late fees so we did not have a full payment. I spent more hours than I should never have had to waste on the phone with strangers telling me what they were going to do with our loan if we did not become current. They called my home and they called my job and at one point discussed that I was behind with my supervisor, which they should be glad that it would not be today because I would handle it differently. See I was in training with fairbanks on how to deal with people like them because they taught me so very much on -what not to take from a business. To make my story short they would not credit my account in time, they added fees for I have not clue what for. The late fees kept mounting up and everytime I talked with them it seemed they had handed my account to a new or different agent who each time gave me a different amount that we were behind and a different amount we would have to pay to satisfy them. My husband and I started out strong with the problem and we were going to handle it but when the phone rang almost daily we started fussing over who was going to deal with them that day to being stressed out because we wanted to keep our home and didn't know what to do. We started fussing over the bill that they said we owed we were the only two people in our situation so we had no one to blame but each other. Well 9 years later we separated I moved because it was a home we bought from his father that was his birth place. It was not long after I moved they foreclosed on the house. Years later I know that I was affected by the situation because I am and always will have a problem with trusting lender. I recently found that a suit was settled and we were not aware of because we both have moved to different counties so we never got any mail about the suit. If anyone knows where someone could contact to see if you may have been compensated for all the b/s they put everyone through and the charges they had to pay back could you please respond to this and let me know where, I figure it maybe too late but I would still be interested in checking. I wish I would have known about the suit because they ruined me, my credit, my marriage and caused me a huge amount of problems, they caused me years of shame with each and every time I had to explain this to anyone that I tried to get a loan with to catch the payment up and each and every time I was turned down for a loan because of the negative remarks they were making on my credit. This is a complaint about the company but it also is to reach out to many people and say I do know how you feel and reconize your scars also
