FEC, Feit Electric Company, Bright Effects Lighting Manufactured For Lowe's Compact Fluorescent outdoor floodlights last only a few months Pico Rivera California
I purchased dozens of Bright Effects compact fluorescent light bulbs, both indoor twists and outdoor spots and floods. I made up "baskets of bulbs" as Christmas gifts last year and this year; compact fluorescent bulbs to save the earth, and flower bulbs to make it more beautiful. The ones I bought for myself (about 70 of these!) and the ones I bought for others (could be close to 100), are all burning out in just a few months. Prior to my using an outdoor CFL floodlight, I write the date I put it into service on the lamp base. Some have lasted for four months, some for a year, but none have lasted anywhere near 7 years--the claim made on the package. The oldest one that is still working is from November of 2005. This is a very poor record from this company. These were purchased at Lowe's, and after 90 days it is up to you to go back to the company. I've seen so many bad reports about these lights, I'm surprised Lowe's continues to carry them. All I would like to happen is that FEC replace the bulbs that have burned out or give me my money back. Of course, I threw most of them away....I even had one blow up in a lamp! I filed a report with the consumer product safety commission.
