I am a former employee of, Fido's  Premier Pet Salon in, Jacksonville, Nc.I was appalled by the abuse that I witnessed while working for this company. There's a back room where us employees wash and  blow dry the dogs.I witnessed a grooming table getting flipped over on a dog that was tied to the top of the table and when this table flipped, the dog was being choked out.

I was told that we don't muzzle dogs but with aggressive dogs we need to show these poor dogs that are clearly scared who's boss. That was when I witnessed a dog being pinched.

When that didn't work the poor dog was punched. They grab dogs by their fur and pull them by it and put a hot dryer directly on the dogs skin.

It surely has to hurt these dogs.I told the owner that I'm appalled by such behavior and I asked why don't they just muzzle the dogs or have employees wear gloves if they're aggressive.

I told him that the abuse I witnessed is wrong and I would be fine wearing gloves. I told him of the safety hazards such as an inch of water in the back that has wires in it and slipping due to the water.

Of course the owner didn't care and I have since been left with no option but to contact OSHA and animal control. Of course I no longer work for these horrible people.

The owners pretend to care about animals and love them when in reality they're about abuse in their pet salon.Customers are paying good money for services that they believe their pet is safe at.

However it's s shame that it's quite the contrary. The owners tell customers that pets have fleas when they don't, to charge customers extra money for flea treatment.

Fido's premier Pet salon doesn't care about customers at all nor the pets to treat them so heinously. It's all about profit to them and they lock dogs in cages that they don't clean out.

I am sure pets that gotten siclk shortly after going to, Fido's Premier Pet salon is due to the kennels that aren't disinfected but are full of hair.

I have taken my little Maltese to Fido's for several years and they have been nothing but wonderful with her! I have been there many times and have never observed any type of abuse, but only happy groomers giving loving, tender care to all of the animals there. Stephanie and all of her employees have always been very pleasant and showed the utmost concern for my little Misha! Misha likes going there and is always happy to see her Fido Family. I would recommend them to anyone. Yes, it is a family business and there are sometimes children there, but they are very well behaved. No problem!! As for chaotic --- of course! I would call it organized chaos and everyone seems to be having a good time, doing a great job. Grooming tables are all in the same room-- you're working with dogs--dogs bark when they see other dogs or they see an owner come to drop off or pick up a dog! That's the nature of dogs!!! I give them a 10!!!!

I have been taking my dog to Fidos for almost over two years. They're one of the best pet salons in the Jacksonville area I have been to sever others that were terrible but by far Fidos was the best and they treated my dog wonderfully he goes once a month and when he comes back he looks amazing and he stays like that for the whole month. I have also recommended to several friends about the Pet Salon Fidos and they've taken their animals there and they absolutely loved them. I will continue to keep going to them because they take such good care of my German Shepherd

How did this injury really occur??

I have seen the pictures of this beautiful dog with the muzzle marks a few times and I must say I certainly hope it is a rescue.  Muzzle impressions like those in the photos of this golden mix do not come from short term use of muzzles.  This dog must have gotten these markings from long term daily misuse for months or years.  Simply stated a grooming shop could not have caused these injuries, because it takes months of consistent misuse of muzzling in order for this to occur.  I surely hope there is some sort of reverse internet tracking that the ASPCA can do on this client so that they could check the welfare of this animal.  Any grooming shop did not cause this, I can guarantee that.  The only other time I have seen an injury like this was when a dog was brought into a Veterinarian to be euthanized after being muzzled from the time it was three months old.  It was two years when brought for euthanasia.  Instead of the dog being euthanized, Animal Welfare advocates sought action against the owner.  To reiterate these markings are consistent with daily misuse of a muzzle end of story.  Poor dog I hope the owner answers for their actions!

I have also worked for Fido's and was fired when I refused to hit the dog's for when they felt they were being bad. So i can attest that the above claims are true. Stephanie and John the owners are notorious for writing positive reviews/fake reviews when anyone speaks out against their company. They're extremely two faced and are only nice to you and your pet while they do what they want to the pet and laugh in your face. They are HORRIBLE!

I have been a customer and with my experience, my dog, SAM that was obviously abused, which by the way Fido's will never admit.

I took my dog Sam in and noticed his muzzle was cut.I asked Stephanie what happened and she smiles and says oh I am sorry but Sam fell from the table as I turned for a second.

She said he must have cut his muzzle on scissors as he fell. I do not believe that just because of how and where the cut is located on my dogs muzzle.

Stephanie said don't worry about paying but if your dog needs vet care, we would cover it. I tried to contact the Better Business Bureau but because Stephanie didn't charge me, she clearly denied my dog and I ever have been in her salon.

So I can validate the statement above that they do abuse animals. Had I of taken before and after pictures of before the abuse and after with dates on it, perhaps animal control could have and would have done something.

I would like to THANK Stephanie and her 'team' for the the loving care that they have provided my little companion Sam in this first year of our journey together.  Sam is a Maltese/Shitzu mix and requires monthly grooming.  I tried a couple of groomers and was not satisfied and just stopped into her shop to see if she could fix a problem left by another groomer. She had someone take over what she was doing and took a look and then promptly fixed Sam up:-) all the while talking softly and handling him gently.

Several dogs arrived for appointments while I was there and I noticed they all came in willingly and were greeted gently and seemed happy to be there....impressive as the dogs at the other places I had been were being dragged in like at the vets when they don't want to go in....I was duly impressed and asked if I could just make an appointment for Sam.  Sam and I have both been very satisfied with the service and the quality of workmanship and the loving care at Fido's during the past year.

With all that said--I am just wondering about the character and integrity of the person that posted the diatribe about this salon on this website??? Her aggrieving behavior leads me to beleive that she might just be the person guilty of the misbehaviors she discribes and maybe that is why she is not working at Fido's at this point in time!! in a year's time I have seen nothing to lead me to believe anything she alluded to is true. I am glad to know that someone as angry and mean spirited as she seems to be is not handling my little dog.
