I too have been an auto lease customer of Fifth Third Bank. On several occasions they have billed me late fees. I use online banking and sent them proof of when they received the money; but they refused to waive the late fee, because they didn't process it until 11 days later (how convenient, 1 day AFTER the grace period). They told me that I have to account for slow mail....hell, the Pony Express ain't that slow!

Recently I decided to purchase my vehicle. They payment was sent in on time. Then I began receiving phone calls that my payment wasn't received. I sent them the information from my online banking to prove that they received the money. Their stupid and inept customer service people were of no help at all. I continued to get daily phones calls from their collections dept, as well as nasty letters from some so-called Vice President for over 6 weeks. The phone calls kept getting worse and worse.....more threatening and abusive with each one. They threatened my credit report, lawsuits, reposession, etc.

I finally found someone in Customer Service to speak with me and she was able to track down the problem.....they posted the payment to the wrong account. DUH!!! that's what I've been telling them for 6 weeks!!!!

I am contacting my attorney to see what can legally be done. I also intend to contact the Missouri Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau.

I will NEVER, EVER do business with Fifth Third Bank again.
