on April 9th, 2017 I deposit $200.00 into the ATM at FIFTH THIRD BANK on 2602 E Hillsborough Avenue Tampa, FL for my payment which was due on April 8th. I received an error due to Technical problem. I also received a receipt stating One of More deposit items were unable to be returned due to a technical problem. No funds were credited or returned to me. One Monday morning I contacted the branch and was given customer service number to contact with in regards to my credit. I was then forward to the dispute team, who opened a case (#C17041222438). I was then informed it would take 5 to 6 Business days to credit my account. I addressed my concerns regarding the length of timeframe to credit because my statement is issued 4/11 and the full utilization percentage would count against my credit score. I am currently purchasing a house and could not afford to be penalize for FIFTH THIRD BANK ATM having technical issues. I pleaded with the supervisor in Dispute and Credit Card services to issue a same day credit since it was cash that was deposit and I have receipts. No one will assist me and this will have major affects on my credit.

I have friends and co workers who have other banks and were issued immediate credit. Unfortunately, I made the big mistake of have a credit card with FIFTH THIRD BANK who seems to think this is my issue and doesnt care.

It's not late if the payment is due on a weekend.

- Please don't tell me you are trying to reference the credit card regulation changes of 2010 that required creditors when a Due Date falls on a weekend or holiday to be counted as on-time if it was received before the cut-off time the next business day.

Because if you actually read the law you would realize that applies to payments made by mail ONLY. If they accept other forms of payments on the due date AND you made it by that method then the due date still applies. Since the ATM never really "closes" and you made it by ATM you are considered late. Yes not late as far as your credit report shows, but late where they can assess you a late fee.

https://www.helpwithmybank.gov/get-answers/credit-cards/payments-and-late-payments/faq-credit-cards-payments-late-payments-08.html

This link isn't the actual text of the "law" but a Federal Government site that explains it in fairly concise terms that I am sure even you could understand...

Strike ONE....

Your obviously don't have any credit cards because you don't know the difference between a due date and statement date.

- Actually I have several all with fairly low to no utilization. And if you must know a DUE date is the date a payment is DUE.(go figure right).in fact even on the DUE date there is a cut-off time it is due by. A Statement date is the date your monthly billing cycle closes. These dates are rarely the same.  But again neither date is a also a date you can be guaranteed they send their reports to the credit reporting agencies either.

Strike TWO.....

Also GTE issues provisional credit the same day when it's there ATM that has the technology glitch.

- Well three cheers for them, it has nothing to do with your situation though. As there is no law or regulation that states that. Not to mention that there is a big difference between issuing a "provisional" credit with a checking account and a payment on a credit card.

Strike THREE...your out

Extra Innings......

Also bird brain this is my second house purchase.

- That's great. So you must know that if a single $200 payment is the difference that will put your utilization into

such a point where they will change your rate or deny you all together..you are probably not in any financial situation to actually get approved.  Especially for a "second" house.

Not to mention one other little fact. We are not talking several thousand dollars, but $200. There is NOTHING that says you could have made an additional $200 payment that would be credited today(but yes still LATE) to avoid this utilization nightmare you seem to be claiming. Worst case...you have an extra $200 balance you could surely use up quite quickly on items for your new home that you would have had to pay for anyways.

In conclusion let me just make clear the issue with this isn't the issue with the ATM.  As hopefully they should investigate and determine if there was an error.  The issue is YOUR entitlement attitude that says just because you waited until the last minute(actually AFTER the last minute) to make a payment that they now must break their standard procedure.  For something that meant this much you should have made this payment well before the due date just in case there was any "issue".  Which is a primary reason that online would have been the ideal way to go.

If you are so worried about trying to buy a house why are you making your payment 1 day AFTER the due date?

Let me guess, since a late payment doesn't get reported for at least 30 days to your credit report you find the "due date" as just a suggested date and it really doesn't matter if you pay a few days after the due date...right?

Buzz..Wrong answer...thanks for playing the deadbeat Olympics.

I have friends and co workers who have other banks and were issued immediate credit.

- Really? So you have friends(that is more than one) who paid their credit card bills in cash by ATM the day after it is due and run into technical difficulties?  Yea...and I have a nice bridge for sale in San Francisco.

Unfortunately, I made the big mistake of have a credit card with FIFTH THIRD BANK who seems to think this is my issue and doesnt care.

- No your "big mistake" was waiting until the last possible minute to pay your credit card bill.

How come you didn't pay on-line?  That gives you proof of when you paid it, you can even set up a payment to pay on a specific date. Or did their online system have "technical difficulties" as well.

By the way.  If you say anything about how you didn't have the money or needed to wait until you got paid. I have news for you.  You aren't getting a house. As people who would qualify for a house aren't struggling to the point they need to pay their credit cards late and run to the ATM to try and "beat" the statement. Where a single $200 payment would put their utilization in such disarray that you would be denied the loan.  If you just "forgot", then unfortunately the bank is not required to change their procedures for your forgetfulness.  If they do great..but if they don't it is not a ripoff.

FYI...you are aware that companies don't always update their reports based on the statement date, right? They could send an "update" to your credit report at any time during the month and many will do it one day a month where they update EVERY account.
