FCNB represents Eddie Bauer, Newport News and Speigels credit cards. I had placed an order with Newport News. I returned all of the merchandise except one pair of pants......which I paid for on time. I returned all of the other merchandise. They refused to credit my charge card. They also refused to research anything with the catalog department at Newport News.
I mailed them a letter, with proof that I returned the merchandise and asked them to remove their negative credit from my credit report. Not only did they refuse to remove it, they insisted that I pay for the clothes that I no longer had!!!
I ended up being bullied into paying a collection agency almost $200.00 just to get it off of my report.
1 - They had false billing
2 - They tried to ruin my credit because they were to incompetent to handle their own billing and returns.
3 - Their website boasts "First with Consumers" - Whatever!!!
consider contacting a consumer rights attorney. it's against both state and federal law to coerce a consumer into paying money not owed under threats of credit ruination.
