Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
For the past 2 weeks, I have been getting quotes from several moving companies to schedule a move from Jonesboro, GA to Detroit Michigan. Most quotes were quite similar, until I talked to Seth at Flat Rate Movers LLC. He quoted me half the price that the other companies were charging. Of course, I was extremely happy but still asked whether his calculations were correct. He assured me that everything was fine. He asked me to put a deposit of $200.00 down for a quoted price of $980.00. I gave him my credit card information. I told Seth that I was flying down to Georgia in a few weeks to give him the exact numbers of boxes and items but Seth told me that he wasn't worried about a few extra boxes. He told me that I had until 24 hours before the move to cancel and send me an electronic agreement, which thusfar I haven't signed.

After I got of the phone with him, out of courtesy, I called the other companies back and told them that I found a much better deal. One of the representatives warned me and told me that something was very wrong with the estimate I had received. She asked me to carefully read everything and research the company. I took her advice and did just that. I first looked for the company in the BBB website but it was not listed at all, although on the company's website it states that they are in business since 1997. I became increasingly alarmed and began to google Flat Rate Movers LLC and didn't get any response back. I was than re-directed to Ripoff Reports, where I read about Real Van Lines, which reminded me I had seen somewhere within their e-mail.  After I read the reports from Ripoff, I also saw that Flat Rate Movers LLC is operating out of the same location as Real Van Lines. I immediately blocked my credit card and thank god never signed the electronic agreement.

So, for anyone out there trying to use Flat Rate Movers LLC, please do your homework. I should have been alerted immediately after their quoted price was only half from that from the others and the response that a few extra items were not going to be a problem. Further, between the lines, the moving company never offered to come out and actually see the items to be moved. Seth just told me that they were going to call and confirm the move 24 hours before coming out. Well, of course, there will now not be a move with Flat Rate Movers LLC.

Thanks to everyone else who took the time to report this and yes, I agree, if it is too good to be true, it usually is!!!

This company makes racist remarks on Indians. Not only dd they stole our things but also made derogatory comments about Indians. Shameless idiots. If you hate Indians why do you take money from us.

INDIANS PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AT ALL TO MOVE YOUR THINGS. THESE UNEDUCATED IDIOTS WHO CANNOT EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH WILL BEHAVE LIKE THEY ARE HIGH AND MIGHTY BUT IN ACTUAL FACT ARE MAKING MONEY CHEATING OTHERS.

Flat Rate Movers are Frauds

This company is run by the same guy who runs Advantage Moving and Storage. If you check the addresses are the same for both Flat Rate Movers and Advantage Moving storage.

The owner Yair Knafo@Adam Marshall are crooks and are blacklisted by Georgia Public Commision and do not have license to operate moving household goods.

The guy who books your reservation will disappear the moment you give your credit card info. If you cal the office a lady by the name of Teresa will answer the phone and she will say "I do not know anything, I am just the receptionist". They will never pick up your things and even if they do they will not deliver it.

There is Daniel, Adam, and of course HERMAN the driver.

He will send text from his phone and the number is 404-992-2067. This is the text he sent to me when I requested my things to be delivered. This is the exact message:

F*** U YOU STANKIN A** B*TCH UR GETTIN ON MY NERVES LEAVE ME THE F**K ALONE U CRAZY INDIAN W***** I NO F**** DELIVER TO YOU SOMEBODY ELSE WILL BRI  9:52pm tue aug 2012

So if you want to endure all this then please go ahead and book them. The estimate was $1590 over the phone and when they came to my house the items were the same as when I told Paul over the phone the estimate went up to $2210. I do not know if I will ever see my things again.

Everything is true

Everything being said about this company is true.

1) Shawn WILL book your move (and be very nice in the process) and will tell you that you will be charged on your card when the movers arrive and then again when your things are dropped off.

2) The movers will show up and have you sign their paperwork where it does say in the fine print that you have to pay by cash (even though Shawn totally tells you otherwise)

3) When you don't have cash on you, the movers will call Adam and he WILL berate you.

4) You will have to come up with cash asap or they will put your stuff in storage and immediately start charging you (which I assume you would also have to pay in cash).  Hmmm, tell people they can pay by card, put all their stuff in your van, THEN tell them they have to pay you cash, and if they can't you put their stuff in storage where you will then own their things if they can't pay.  Slick, FRM, very slick.

5) They will not return your calls or emails when your things don't arrive. Be very prepared to camp out on the floor for a good while.  The movers (who I assume are contracted) will tell you a time frame - it's bogus.

Here's the thing - I believe that the movers are contractors.  The lead guy told me (after Adam yelled at me for not having cash) that this happens ALL the time.  And that he and his crew are going to move to another company because these guys are awful to work with.  I went to drop off cash to their storefront (at the time Adam told me to be there but then he didn't show up) and the address they use is actually up for lease.  The unit next to it looks like a mover's junk closet but there are no offices or anything.  I think they work from home and have all of their phone lines tied in together.  Adam told me he could see me on the security camera so I assume he has all that wired to his house.

This has basically become a nightmare and I wish that I had understood that they are a different company from Atlanta Flat Rate Movers, LLC.  They at least get good reviews.

Any advice that any of you can offer regarding how long it actually took to get your things?

I'm going through the same thing with "Real Movers LLC".  Amazingly enough they have the exact same mailing address as Flat Rate Movers...read my report on real movers from June 10th....and I too am pregnant sleeping on an air mattress since June 1.  I missed my daughters birthday this weekend as she is in WV, and they told me they would be here on Fri or Sat, then on Fri said no it was Sunday!......so, I stayed here all weekend and still no furniture!!! Now, they're not answering the phone AT ALL!!!

I'm experiencing the same trouble with Flat Rate Movers LLC. They arrived two days early to pick up my belongs while my 72 year old mother was waiting for me to pick her up from the Atlanta airport. I was yelled at by Adam and was told that I was stupid. I assured him that I had more education than he and I am certainly not stupid. Of course, Shawn is not available or will not take our phone calls. Flat Rate Movers LLC has had possession of my belongs since May 29th. Everyday I get a different answer as to when my things will be delivered. I'm starting a new job soon and have no appropriate clothing to wear. It's all packed up. I have spoken with an attorney and the Georgia Department of Consumer Affairs. Since Flat Rate Movers LLC stated in the very fine print they had 10 days to deliver from my move in date, there is no legal action that can be taken. Their website states their goal is to provide the best costumer service possible. ALL LIES!!!! Their costumer service has been terrible and their employees have treated me like trash. Hope Shawn reads this post. This company better watch out. There are SEVERAL claims against them at both the state and federal level.

This person may not have been ripped off by you. But As a matter of fact, YOU were the one that told us we could pay with credit cards and even took a couple and said we would be contacted by accounting to finalize our payment.

Oh wait. We needed cash and there IS NO accounting department or way to pay your company now! We tried overnighting the funds as requested so that we could get our things back. Yall never even had the decency to call and say we needed a payment. We just waited at an empty apartment. Still waiting a week later because When we overnighted the money, it was sent to a non-deliverable address.

So, three kids, a pregnant me, and husband with kidney stones are waiting in an empty apartment...still...being ignored. And where are you Mr. Customer service? NO WHERE! We tried this entire week to get a hold of you to see what the heck happened and nada. Customer satisfaction? Not even close Mr. Shawn of Flat Rate Movers.

Subject: Question regarding a post.

  Ed Magedson,

I would appreciate your input on this matter. My name is Shawnnand I'm a sales manager at Flat Rate Movers LLc in Atlanta. In know that the moving industry has a bad rep but I want you to know that we try to do our best to preform the best moves possible.

Some of my potential customer have made me aware that there is
a posting about us on your website.

http://www.ripoffreport.com/miscellaneous-companies/flat-rate-movers-llc/flat-rate-movers-llc-real-van-884ab.htm

I'm all for free speech and I think that the customer should have a forum to vent. It's also important that inquiring customer have a chance to hear from past customers.

But my only problem with this posting (BTW it's are only post) is that the customer in question never actually moved with us. He simply received a price which he deemed to low.  Many variables are invovled in the pricing. We could have had a half empty truck departing and offered the low rate as to not lose the available space on the truck. Other factors play a
role as well.

I understand that you receive hundreds of posts every day and there's no way to review each one but I was curious as to what your policy was in regards to posts that were posted by people who were never actual customer.

Any Input that you can provide would be appreciated

Reports are not removed! But, we know there are better options like filing a good, calm, non-combative REBUTTAL and show your understanding of how comments can be made anywhere on the internet today .. it works .. most of all, consumers love to do business with someone that can either admit mistakes or shows how they handle a false Report. We will all get them.. sooner or later if you are in business /
or not in business no one can satisfy 100% of the people, 100% of the time, no matter who you are. Think about it. How many times did you feel, maybe, that you were ripped off went you really werent.?

Think about all the people who have sat on death row for many years, and all those who were put to death, to only find out later, after 1 or 2 jury trials, countless appeals, and all kinds of witnesses..  that,  ooops!, gee
whiz, they werent guilty after all? Get my point?

In short.. we cannot become the Judge and jury as to who is right or  wrongI suggest that you just file a rebuttal and explain your side

This person or, someone else in the future will more than likely keep going onto other sites to post again and again  - you will be fighting a never ending battle..

More than likely these complaints are also on other sites and blogs
Even if we removed it, it will be on Google Cached and other sites like wayback machine that keep things around forever.

Rip-off Report is a permanent Record..

If we removed your post you would be included in every lawsuit we get involved in getting you more negative publicity than you could ever imagine, and, companies that sue us would want to depose you to see what you did to get us to remove a report.. as we have always had a uniform
policy to not remove a Rip-off Report.

Again.. please just file a rebuttal

Ed,
I understand you policy and the reasons its in place. But there has
to be an exception when the individual making the post was never an
actual customer. How can you be ripped-off if I never serviced you.

I didn't deny these person service. We never had an agreement to
perform such acts. I merely Provided the customer with a quote which
he deemed too inexpensive. Since that post went up I'm having to
defend my self against allegations that I ripped people off. Most
people don't read the posts in details but merely check to see if
you have any listings.

Please, a reply would be appreciated.

I too am planning on moving and have sent out several requests for quotes and have yet to receive responses from any of them ( except one that had a complaint on here about, Graebel ) but this company was next on my list to contact.

Thank you so much for the heads-up.
