Please read the whole story before you decide to purchase

from Flemings Ultimate Garage.  I am writing

this in homes that Mr. Fleming will right his companies wrongs and bring a

good name back to his business.

I cant believe these people. They claim they are enthusiasts,

and that they sell a quality product.   I bought a 1972 Chevelle SS pro touring in

March, and could not more disappointed  with

this purchase.   I have had nothing but

problems since they day I walked into the dealership.

Lets start from the beginning.  I drove to hours to look at this Chevelle,

and I stood around for 45 minutes without any help until I lifted the hood on

the car.  Thats when Rich (the salesman)

came out to tell me not to touch the cars.

I explained to him that I was interested in this car, and asked him

about any mechanical issues, leaks, or other problems.  He laughed at me and told me all cars have

leaks (I wasnt born yesterday) and he told me this car was just fully

restored.   This salesman was very rude

during this process.  I asked about the

damp carpet and he said it was just some condensation.  I took the car for a test drive, and told him

I would be back the next day.

The next day I found out it was not in fact a real SS as advertised.  But they were very convincing in the fact

that it was still worth over 30000 dollars.

I also found out that it did not have the 500 hp as advertised.  Despite these discrepancies, I decided to buy

the car.  I even purchased it from Rich,

who told me in front of my girl friend that she and I would not last long.  (What kind of salesman says that?!)

Here is where the real problems start. The next week,  I drove over two hours to pick up the car, and

when I got there, Rich told me it needed to be aligned, it needed interior

pieces put in it, and a new fan module put in it, and they would not have it

ready until the next day.  I was a bit

annoyed until I talked to the owner.  He

told me Rich misinformed me and the car would not be ready for a week!  I was very upset!  This was the third time I had driven down

there, and I was not going to do it again.

I went home and emailed Mr. Fleming himself.  He agreed to have the car delivered, and

throw in a new air cleaner for my troubles.

He also agreed to get the advertised heater installed.

It has been three months since the car was delivered and

Ive put only 500 miles on it.  After detailing

the car, I have noticed that it is mostly bondo under the paint.  The paint itself looks like it was done by a

12 year old and there is already rust showing at the bottom of the driver side

door!  The car ran out of gas once

despite the gauge showing of a tank.

I went to get a car wash and almost drowned!  The window seals are all junk!  My carpet seems to always be soaked.  I might as well have the windows down.  Speaking of windows, the window cranks fell

off and are junk.  The back dash has

warped.  On inspection, I found that it

was made of cheap cardboard.  The fabric

on the sail panels near the back windows came apart and I had to repair those

along with many other interior pieces.  The

rear ashtrays were not even secured into the arm rests.  The passenger seat does not slide back and

forth.  The center console is broken.  This car needs to go back to the shop so the

interior can be re-restored the right way!

The exhaust leaks horribly (at least thats what I hope that ticking

noise is), and it still leaks oil!  It is

consistently running hot and the transmission slips going into third gear.  The gas cap was defective and was spilling

gas every time I accelerated.

Dangerous!!  They still have not

called me to get the heater installed.

Theres no way I can show this car in the condition its in, and Im

afraid to drive it because I fear it will either overheat or the transmission

will go out.  Ive been tempted to drive

it back to Flemings Ultimate Garage, but Im pretty sure it will leave me

stranded on the free way.

Overall, I am very unsatisfied with this purchase.  I paid over 27000 dollars for this car, and

its junk.  Ill be surprised if its

still in one piece by the end of the summer.  I cant believe I was ripped off this

bad.  This is no way to run a business and

by the looks of it, these people are doing this all the time.  Im so disappointed.   I hope no more people get treated like I did

Making things right

After writing my last review Mr. Fleming and his crew gave complete cooperation in fixing the problems that were addressed. They had a flat bed pick the car up and they spent some time addressing the issues. They installed the heater very well. The wiring was hidden behind the fender well and fire wall, and it puts out good heat within minutes of the car running. The windows were adjusted so water doesnt come in. The rear window was taken out and resealed so water wont come into the trunk. The back dash was replaced and headliner/sail panels were fixed. They also found a few other minor problems and repaired them. The total repairs amounted to almost $2000.00. The owner and shops head supervisor stayed late when I came to pick up the car so they could go over the repairs and make sure I was satisfied. I appreciate their cooperation and excellent attitudes through this process. This is the way a business should take care of customers. Im very pleased by the way they saw a problem, and took care of it in a professional manner. Mr. Fleming and his shops head supervisor showed me that they are two people that care about their customers and their business. I would like to thank both of them for working with me through the months. Im excited to take the car out this summer and I hope Ill have many years of fun with it.

On a second note, I would not recommend anyone buying a car anywhere without looking at the car first. Spend as much time as you need going over every little aspect of the car and make sure its just right before signing over the check. Dont let the salesmen hassle you. Dont let them play any games and make you think you are getting a deal of a life time. I suggest taking the car to an off-site mechanic, paint and body expert, and alignment shop before making your decision. Buying a hotrod can be a good investment or a horrible money pit. Make sure you have all the facts on that car before buying it. Again, dont let the sales people hassle you or make excuses for why something isnt working right. Dont let them give you the every old car leaks line, or the The carpet is wet because of condensation line. I believe this situation could have been avoided if the sales person was more professional, didnt lie to me, and didnt try to push the car out the door before it was ready. If I was the owner of this company and wanted to avoid problems like this in the future, I would terminate the Salesmen that sold me my car for lying to a customer, being completely unprofessional and causing most of this hassle. I would also take a serious look at the rest of the sales staff. Hire people with more experience and passion for cars. Not people that just have experience for selling cars. . The sales people run the cars, answer questions and inspect them every day. If they see something that isnt right or should be fixed, they should report it instead of trying to sell the car anyway. By the looks of other reports, it looks like the sales people can be the downfall of this company if things arent sorted out.

Your ad link says Chevelle SS 454 but you say it wasn't represented as such. I'm not sure how you rationalize that. I think it would have been more appropriate to say Chevelle SS 454 clone or tribute. I hope the OP let's us know how this turned out.

Let us know if he made you happy or is just your 'typical' used car salesman.

I hope he fixes your complaints and you post so here....(although I have my doubts he will).

Good Luck.

I dont drive my car in the rain, nor did I write that I do. All I have to do is wash the car or take it through a car wash and I am almost literally swimming in my own car. I also do not drive my car hard. Like I previously wrote, I have put about 500 miles on it since I last had it. Most of this driving is in about 15 mile increments to and from work on nice days.

Hiding behind the internet? Sir I am certainly not hiding behind anything. I have called Flemings ultimate garage numerous times and not heard a response. When I did get a response about the heater install, I was told that the mechanic was tracking down parts still. It has been over four months since I was told I would get the advertized heater installed. I would see that as giving multiple chances. Furthermore, while inspecting the damaged rear dash, I noticed the metal underneath is almost completely rusted out. I will call at the end of the week to discuss what needs to be fixed and then follow up on this discussion.

I did in fact purchase a pro Touring Chevelle. It was in fact advertized as an SS in bold letters on the web page. There was no disclaimer that it was an SS clone or that it had no original SS parts. It was only after I looked up the vin number and called about it not being an SS that it was admitted to me that it was not really an SS car.

I did test drive the car and look it over for several hours. I also discussed it with my significant other. I did also buy the car. It wasnt until after I bought the car that the problems came about. The next time I buy a muscle car I will defiantly take it to a body shop and a mechanic. These people have a much keener eye to detail and know problem areas that I would miss on an inspection. Buying from Flemings is defiantly buyer beware.

If Flemings Ultimate Garage calls the condition of the car that was delivered their standards, than I would not recommend buying from their company. The car should have been completed before being put up for sale. I recently took the car to a competing muscle car dealer and they said there was at least $1800.00 of interior, engine, and body work needed for them to put it on their floor for sale. That clearly shows where Flemings standards are. I spent almost 30,000 dollars on this car and expect to get a quality product even for being a 40 year old car. Once again I am disappointed in the service of this company. I have yet to get a phone call from them about any of these issues, just an online rebuttal accusing me of hiding behind the internet and excuses to the list of problems. I hope to talk to Flemings Ultimate garage soon to have these issues remedied.

3000+ cars sold ! $24K in restoration receipts ! Awesome car.

We don't drive the cars in the rain, so we don't know if the windshield leaks, cars do get driven hard and can develop an exhaust leak over time, it obviously didn't leave here that way, but keep in mind that this car had just had $24K worth of restoration done to it with receipts. Restored cars need sorting out and its going to need to have a few things done, after its had a few miles put on it.

Mr. Green, no need to hide behind the Internet, bring the car down, let us check it over and do what we can for you. The client has nothing to lose getting some free work done here at Flemings, you only have to give us the chance.

Mr. Ryan Green did in fact purchase a Pro touring Chevelle from us, not a stock SS and not advertised as such. More importantly, that's why people buy a pro touring car, is that they DONT want the old school ride and handling that an original SS would have offered.

This part is hard to understand, in fact Mr Green even states it in his complaint, albeit maybe unknowingly: Keep in mind, Mr. Green came here, test drove the car, looked it over for several hours, had the approval of his significant other, even had multiple chances not to purchase it and did so anyway.

On the fact the he was inconvenienced and had to come back because the car wasn't ready, clearly says that Flemings WAS NOT going to deliver a car that wasn't up to our standards, that's why we agreed to ship it to him at no charge,.
