On December 11th, 2009 we purchased an engagement from Fred Meyer. On 3/19/2010, I brought my ring to Fred Meyer in Appleton because my center stong was lose, so much that I could hear it jingling whenever I moved my hand. The guy took my ring, looked at it under the microscope and proceeded to take a plyers and pushed the prongs together, and said, there you should be fine. I went home thinking everything was fine and dandy. Upon visiting the Madison mall I decided to have them clean my ring, after cleaning the ring the man comes up, and says, do you know your center stone is lose? I said yes, but the other store said it was fine. I was then told if I didnt have it fixed, they wouldnt pay for a new stone if I lost it. So, they sent it in to be fixed on 8-1-2010. I got my ring back and went on with life.

On 10-30-10 I return to Fred Meyer because my center stone is loose yet again. It is sent in for fixing and I recieve it back. On this visit, I was told that I probably just knocked it on something, and it had nothing to do with the integrity of the ring. My center stone had come loose twice within three months. I do not wear my ring when doing housework, I do not shower with it on, I clean my ring often and keep it very well protected. There is nothing, I would knock my ring on that should make my stone loose so often.

My center stone had been pretty good for almost a year. I thought they had finally "fixed" it. It is now November 21st, and I had to return my ring yet again, for the center stone coming loose. I went to the Appleton store this time. I first talked with Kelly, he was great, he told me that he thought I should start over and look for another setting. My ring cost $7500.00 without the wedding band. While looking around, I found out the sales associate was actually saying that I should upgrade my ring. this would mean I should give them my ring back and double my purchase price with them. Meaning, I would pay another $7500.00 for a different ring. I asked them why I would want to give them another seven thousand dollars when I have done nothing wrong. Kelly agreed with me that my center stone should never come lose 3 times, and that there was clearly a problem. Then, the manager comes over. He takes my ring, and says that I will just need to keep having it fixed. Basically stating its not their fault. If it was, he would have people coming in all the time for their center stone if that were the case. He tells me that he doesnt want any nasty emails sent about him, because he isnt saying its my fault, but really he is. I asked him, what he thinks they should do for me, since I live over an hour away from any Fred Meyer store and have had to drive there and give up my ring for 2 weeks everytime it needs to be fixed. He doesnt seem to think this matters. At this point Fred Meyer is not willing to do anything for me, the manager was not willing to help me out in any way.

What happened to making your customer happy? Since Fred Meyer is responsible if I lose my diamond, I wont be taking it in to be fixed anymore. If it falls out, it falls out. Their loss, not mine. I will never buy anything from Fred Meyer ever again. I sincerly wish we had never done business with them in the first place.
