Just for everybody's information, i was an employee indirectly for Gateway Chevy and it's partner dealer, Gateway Kia in Des Plaines, IL. The whole process these dealers use is quite complex, but i will try and lay it out for everyone. firstly, Gateway recieves auto application leads from places like 1800Buy-a-car, www.customerfunding.com, or www.4easycredit.com., etc. , and they are faxed over to a telemarketing company of which the owner is friends with the two Gateway GM's: Eric Green of Gateway Chevy and Craig Andreas of Gateway Kia. Next, the telemarketing employees, most of which are paid poorly, call up these prospective applicants telling them they have been 'approved', 'pre-approved', or 'qualified'; depending literally on the mood of the employee, and that they must come down to the dealership that day if they want a vehicle. You see, when i was employed my boss expected us to hit a particular quota for each day; around 100 people in Chevy and around 50-60 in Kia EVERY DAY! If you average in the fact that around 5%-7% of all arriving appointments CAN actually get a vehicle because their credit is actually good enough, you can see that there must be tons of pissed off people in an around Chicago due to this buisness partnership. I never had an idea as to just how much money my former boss was paid in his partnership, but he is a multi-millionaire so it must be plenty. It's just simply a numbers game. The more people we send in, regardless if they can be helped or not, the more vehicles they can possibly sell. We were instructed not to care about the customers personal problems either, like if someone only has a couple bucks to take public transportation to the dealer, we would reassure them that it's 'no money down' and 'we'll provide the transportation back with your new car' and all that other bull. I have countless stories of people being stranded in a town they're not familiar with, or people yelling, swearing, and even crying to me over the phone about their experience at Gateway. And that's just my side. From what i hear the actual dealership employees are far worse. I've even heard of one of the salesman at chevy named Bill K. attacking a customer. My conscience has decided that i had to leave that telemarketing company and stop putting my sweat and energy into someone elses misery and pain, and at the same time putting tons of money into some rich auto dealers pockets. And for the sake of TRUTH i'll also post the telemarketing company's info as well. The name of the company is: National Telerep Marketing Systems LTD. Located at 401 Prospect Ave. in Mount Prospect, IL. And if you also want the telemarketing phone #, i believe it's still 847-637-1196 last time i checked. Please, do yourself and your family a favor and tell everyone you can about this. I'll post later if i feel the time is right, or if anyone has a questions.

I had a very similar situation as some of these people did at Gateway. I called before I went up to the dealer and spoke to Sabastion. I explained I wanted to trade in my car for a used vehicle about worth 6,000. When I went up there everything was fine at first. Then he had his sales manager Bill come and talk to us and after being there for 7 hours while they were supposidly going back and forth with the finance company he came back and told me I could not get financed for a used car because I had filed bankruptcy two years ago, and I would be able to get a new cavalier. So they told me that I would be getting $1000 for my trade in and that when we signed the papers we were to get a 4000 dollar rebate. On the contract they had the 4000 off and 0 for the trade-in, when i asked about where the trade-in was they turned off their camera and had their manager Bill come in and talk to me but would not agree to turn on the camera and say it on tape, yeah right there I should have left, but being there for 7 hours and wanting to get out of there and having the excitement of a new car I signed the papers and drove away. After looking over the contract, I realized alot of things that were not right. The car listed at 15,000 somehow I ended up financing 20,000, mind you that I had supposidly $4000 in rebates. I bought it on Saturday and went back first thing Monday morning and tried to take the car back because things were not right. I spoke to Sebastion and Bill and both gave me a hard time. Bill told me to get the hell out of his store. I called the police because I was told by law I had 72 hours to return the car. The polices first words were we are not very fond of this dealer they are a rip-off. They could not do anything but gave me numbers to bbb, and states attorneys office. I proceeded with all of that and filed a complaint with GM motors against the dealer. The general manager called me a week later and said he would see what he could do, his name was Eric. He was very friendly, and I thought he was going to help me but he never called back like he promised. Advice for anyone who is desperate for a car DO NOT go to Gateway you will pay for it for a long time.
