The individual came to fix what was a simple inability to connect to the internet (following a storm). The problem was finally corrected by me through asking Verizon to release the IP and resetting.

In the process, the individual continued about trying to fix a firewall (untangle) box which had nothing to do with the problem - it was shown to him that bypassing the box did NOT solve the problem. He could not complete the build and spent much time trying to rebuild this system.

He took apart 3 (Yes Three) working computers in the office for parts to allow him to complete the reinstall of the untangle s/w. The next day, Monday morning which is a very busy period for clinical and office staff 2 systems were found not to work and I had to leave my own work to travel to this office and correct the problems he had left behind:

- Computer 1, in experimentation he set fixed DHCP addresses which prevented this computer to join the domain

- Computer 2, he had removed a floppy drive to help install untangle and during the process dislodged the graphics card.

To this day the untangle box can not be reinstalled as he did not properly configure the unit; he generally seems to work by trial and error and makes mistakes and minutes turn into hours - I stopped him and prevented any further work on this unit as it was apparent that with the changes he was contemplating the system would be less secure and in any case it would take several more hours.

The 2 Key personnel of this agency could not function through the entire morning period; the individual was not reachable as he was at his day job.

He also fails to mention that during the 9 hours (as stated by him), much of his time was spent on the following:

1. On the cell phone trying to track his wife at department stores, apparently she would not answer her phone and he had the store page for her numerous times.

2. Sitting on another staff members computer, and setting up a online quickbooks account and learning to invoice through this product.

3. Trying to fix his cell phone which had apparently been giving him problems.

4. Eating lunch paid for by the Company.

Nonetheless I offered to make him a payment less what it would cost to have the firewall configured so that the system was back to the original configuration.

His intentions in placing this message here are to receive the unpaid fee, all he had to do was call me. And I could go on... who exactly is the victim here.

The story in his report is greatly exaggerated and/or untrue. We did try and make things right with him but he was unwilling to work with us. bypassing the untangle box (untangle is a web filtering router) did fix his internet issue. Therefore the issue lied within that router. The security problem he is referring too is putting in a strong firewall between his VPN (and the rest of his network) and the outside internet. Unfortunately he was misinformed on how networking works therefore he saw a slightly more complex network setup as a security issue when it was quite the opposite. He also hired me to reinstall Server 2003 on a server of his. This is where the floppy incident came in. Because his server did not have a floppy, but needed a floppy to install Server 2003 with RAID drivers I borrowed a floppy drive from one computer. **Me and this customer both checked all of the computers to be sure they could login and print before I left** Therefore the video problem must have been a problem after I left maybe someone yanked the video cable. The allegations about eating, quick books, and the phone is greatly exaggerated. Of course I have to send you an invoice before I leave. Of course if I'm there for 9 hours I should be allowed to take a few minutes to eat. It took me 15 minutes to eat AND I was working on reloading the Server's OS at the time. I was on the phone for no longer than 2 minutes to have my wife bring an important tool that I needed. It is unfortunate that this happened, our goal is 110% satisfaction, and we failed our goal here, but I guess you can't make everyone happy.
