On April 2, 2011, I took 3 computers into the Geek Squad at Metairie (New Orleans) La for repair. Two were Dells - one was a Gateway Laptop.  All computers had a Spyware Virus and a Trojan Virus.  Geek

Squad was running a program to repair 3 computers - I told them the problem - asked them to upgrade the computers to Window 7 (which I purchased from them) and to put on a Security Program (which I purchased from them at that time).  I did not argue with them about how much they wanted to charge - I paid them over $600.00 at that time - the two Dells were to be ready the next day - the laptop was being sent off due to a faulty key on the keyboard.  I told them I was illiterate when it came to the computers and that I needed their guidance.  No argument from me on the price.  The next day when I picked up the computers they told me they had a problem with them and they were going to require ordering extra cards to make the WIndows 7 work - at a cost of $44.25 each - I told them to go ahead and order them but they would need to make a house call to install them after 3 weeks because I was leaving the next day on a trip for 3 weeks.  They said I had to order the cards - after some argument they agreed to order the cards which they have never done because they do not exist.  I took the computers home - waited 4 weeks to get a technican to come and fix them - never happened.

The laptop came back with only the keyboard repaired - and I had to wait two more days for them to take the virus off it - they were to busy to move quickly.  Finally, I took it back without allowing them to install the Windows 7 and Security Program.  Since that time, I have been in contact with the two store managers - Shanon Menard and Chris Burmaster - trying to resolve these issues.  They will not return my phone calls or send a technican to resolve the problem.

I am in the process of reversing the credit card charges - and asking for damages since I cannot work without these computers.  It is my advice to you - NEVER USE THE GEEK SQUAD - THEY ARE WORTHLESS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE STINKS.  Do not buy from BEST BUY - they do not care what Geek Squad does to their customers.

I used to work for a major computer company and we worked on all the store computers, registers and printers for Best Buy. They would not allow their employees, especially Geek Squad to touch them. One time I had a service call for the printer at the Geek Squad counter. The complaint was that they kept sending it job after job and nothing happened. I moved the printer out from the wall and lo and behold the ethernet network cable was unplugged. "see the pretty cable, I told them, see the nice jack in the wall with a hole that it plugs into? Now watch what happens." The employee was almost amazed when the printer started printing dozens of pages and told me "I haven't gotten to the printer training yet." Never let these oafs touch anything of yours. Occasionally the Geek Squad manager would approach me about working there and I laughed & told them Best Buy couldn't afford me. I would play piano at the house of ill repute before working at Geek Squad (probably more prestige in the piano player job).

happen to me. They had my PC for almost a month and all they had to do to it was put a video card in it. In retrospect, I shouldn't have been so lazy as to not do it myself, but, we all make mistakes.

I honestly think that the Geek Squad people don't have any kind of technical education at all.
