I have been a happy member of Global Vacation Network for 3 years now and finding this consumer report is severly disturbing to me. As I read it I found inaccuracies all throughout the report. Those who might be reading this rebuttal PLEASE pay attention because if you have purchased into Global Vacation Network, you should know all of the "accurate" facts.
1) Global Vacation Network is NOT a timeshare. It is a vacation club. And, in fact, it is supremely better than owning a timeshare. Why? Because you're not locked into one specific week in one specific destination. You have thousands of resorts around the world to choose from and you can go anytime you want.
2) Global does own resorts and I've personally stayed at resorts they have built from the ground up. But, they are a member of a prestigous network called CARE. The cooperative association for resort exchangers. This allows them the exchange weeks with other companies in order to better accomodate their members. Who doesn't want more choices!?
3) I also was awarded a free vacation for coming into Global. The representative I had informed me that the free vacation was supplied by a company other than their own and that there were some blackout dates, which was fine with me because, HELLO, it's FREE. Let's use some common sense here.
4) While I attended the presentation I was never lied to. In fact, I met the director of the store and several other representatives whom all treated me with respect and kindness, and in fact, I had a wonderful time while I was there! I even invited my representative to church the following Sunday with me and my family and she attended! What other company can you tell me about in this day in age that cares that much about creating relationships with their clients?! If I'm in the area, sometimes I even stop by just to say hello to the people I met when I was there and talk about a trip I've taken recently.
I've referred my friends and my family to Global and I will continue to do so in the future. This is a wonderful membership to have if you like to travel and vacation and you don't want to spend an arm and a leg doing it. It changed my life and allowed me to see places I might never have been able to see, but more importantly, gave me EXPERIENCES that I will never forget. I don't believe you can put a price on that.
Thank you Global! Keep doing what you're doing!!!:)

I have been a Global Member since 1998. My husband and I joined after sitting through a sales pitch in Orlando, Florida. The entire membership only cost around 4 thousand dollars, and since we had just spent more than that on one trip to Disney, we thought we would give it a shot since there's no annual commitment. I must admit, WE LOVE IT. We have since traveled over 13 times, including an anniversary to Honolulu. The reason I am writing this post is because some friends of mine had sat through a sales presentation in Gatliburg, TN, and were skeptical because they saw this web blog. I just wanted voice our opinion about a company that has done so much for us and our children over the last 10 years. The complaint above mentions about booking to Asia and a free flight. I specifically remember someone asking about booking resort weeks to Asia and the Global representative was very clear in saying that they cannot book vacations there. The same case is with the airfares, we were told that there were blackout dates on the free flights. Since they were free, we really didn't mind. I have included the link to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) listing for Global: http://kansascity.app.bbb.org/report/97030227 They have an A+ rating. With over 600,000 transactions over the last 36 months, they have only 60 complaints, all of which are resolved. Thats less than 1%. I am sorry, maybe the person who posted above falls in that 1%, but the other 99% of us are happy! Sincerely, Happy Member
