Beware of this company!  I bought a car from them in June 2011 and my "temporary tag" was not compliant so I got stopped by FHP within hours of driving off the lot. Then trying to get a proper temporary tag took several phone calls and threats to finally got them to mail me one.  My temporary license place expired in 7/15 and I have yet to receive the tag and registration.  All calls remained unanswered- sale guy by the name of GREGG is totally unprofessional.  No business card with full name, no land line, just cell numbers.  I filed a complaint with the DMV and BBB today.  All the aggravation is not worth dealing with them.  The car they sold me had no breaks - my bad, I should have known better... spent $400 for new brakes (front and back).  Other problems with car keep creeping up... what a mess and I can't even drive the car because it has an expired temporary license plate.  I live in St. Lucie County & can't afford to get down to Broward... BEWARE!  owner is: VERBER KMOES.
Also this guy named GARY called me and started cursing me and mocking me.  He then told me that he was returning the plate to the DMV.  Then he hang up on me!
The DEALER'S CERTIFICATION that he signed says:  .."I will process the necessary documents through a local county license plate agency in order to obtain the transfer registration certificate, which will be delivered to my customer within 30 days as stated in section 320.0605, FL Statutes.
BAD COMPANY, BAD SERVICE, BAD CARS, AND CANNOT EVEN GET A LICENSE PLATE AND REGISTRATION FOR A BAD CAR!!!

I have a used dealership as well and we were in business for 4 years and sold 1500 vehicles. Then we received one complaint and we went from NR (No Rating) to a C. Then the BBB came by our lot offering to sell us a membership for $700 along with an A+ rating. We declined and threatened them and now we have an A rating for free.

Did you buy the car knowing it had bad brakes or did they fail after you owned it? Why do you feel a need to get defensive? People always assume that a dealer knows everything about a used car they are selling. If its a large volume dealer your test drive may be the first time the salesman was in the car. Are we talking about a $15000 used car or a $4000 junker? Obviously your expectations of what is considered good condition should be lower on a 10 year old car than they are on a 2 year old one. If you're buying an old, high mileage car you should assume that you will be spending money on repairs.

No COD or even a courtesy call that the plate was in the office

Thank you for your input- as a "used car salesperson", your response does not surprise me.  However, to set the record straight:

(1) We were told the plate and registration would be mailed to us. I specifically asked as we live over two hours away.  Not "COD".. that would have been fine as well.  When I did not get the plate on the 30th day I called the office and they said the plate was in the office and that they would fedex it immediately.  3 days later still no plate.  I called and that's when they became absolutely nasty and told me that I will have to come and pick up the plate.  Filing a complaint with the DMV solved it really quickly by the way!  They mailed right away my plate once the DMV got involved.  And by the way, the DMV was phenomenal!  So BBB, yes, it's probably a useless organization but DMV, 3 thumbs up!

(2) When someone buys a "second-hand" car from a dealerhip or directly through an owner, the only requirement is that they speak the TRUTH.  If the car does not work, say it.  If the car needs new brakes, or new transmission, or whatever, say it as it is.  But don't say:  "The car works perfectly well, no mechanical problem, a fantastic car etc....  Those are LIES.  Nobody should lie and misrepresent facts.  That's what happened.  Now tell me, is that how YOU operate as well?

Did you buy the vehicle "as is" or with a warranty?   If it was "as is" then the repairs are no one's responsibility but yours.

Was the tag included or was it COD? If it was COD they will not give it to you until you pay for it. In fact if you fail to pay for the tag they can return it to the tag office and have a stop placed on your future tag renewals until you get a release from them. You stated that the salesman said he was returning the tag so look at you bill of sale. The tag was more than likely "cash on Delivery".

I am not affiliated with this dealership but I am a used car dealer. Often times people sign without fully understanding. AS IS means AS IS, not "as you think it should be", not "I know I bought it as is but....." As Is means all parties agree that the buyer will pay for all repairs needed at the time of purchase or in the future. If its broken when you bought it that means you bought a broken car and have to fix it. If it breaks later it means you have to fix it. It never means the dealer is responsible. That would be a warranty

You Think the BBB Is Going To Help You???

The plain truth about the BBB:

The BBB is NOT a part of local government!
The BBB is NOT a part of county or state government.
The BBB is NOT part of federal government!
The BBB has NOTHING to do with the Attorney General's Office.
The BBB has NOTHING to do with the judiciary.
The BBB has absolutely ZERO enforcement powers.

The BBB goes to great lengths to try to CON you into thinking they are a part of government.
The BBB will SELL "memberships" to anyone and I do mean ANYONE who wants to buy one.
The BBB will SELL phoney "accreditations" to ANYONE who wants to buy one.
The BBB does NOT conduct some grand investigative process to "invite" worthy "members.

The BBB will take your complaint, do nothing, and write back to you "nothing can be done" while carefully wording and constructing their exact pharaseology to CON you into thinking they are part of the judiciary.  They will then take your complaint and use it as a SALES LEAD to try to SELL this dealership a PHONEY ACCREDITATION...just like buying a phoney college degree.

Understand, I'm not at all saying you do not have a valid complaint here because YOU DO!  However, the BBB is a snake-in-the-grass con-game which cannot help you.  You did the right thing by taking this up with the DMV.
