I contacted Got Engines/SW Engines two weeks ago (4-1-2016) and got a quote for a 2008 Mercury Mariner engine. The quoted engine supposedly has 55,000 miles on it and they were asking $1.760.00. I read through the terms and conditions and left like I had a good grasp of what I was getting into. The engine arrived at R&L trucking's Phoenix terminal about two weeks later. I was told to wait in the waiting room and sign a couple of papers related to picking up the engine. They then loaded the engine into my truck (I wasn't allowed to inspect the shipment prior to signing for it!) and I proceeded to my shop to start getting ready to install it. Once unpackaged, I noticed that the engine didn't have its valve cover and had HEAVY corrosion on the block, which had been spray painted silver (there was even overspray on plastic components).... I then proceeded to Got Engines/SW Engines website to double check the FAQ section where it says what WON'T be included on engines that they sell.

Their website states:

Q: What all will come with my Engine?

A: Your engine will arrive complete, minus Power Steering Pump, alternator, Starter, and AC Compressor. All the other parts that remain on the engines are only for convenience purposes.

I also noticed that the plastic intake manifold was broken and would also require replacement so I called Got Engines/SW Engines in an attempt to speak with customer service. I called 9 times over two days. Each time I was put on hold for between 6-9 minutes before someone picked up the line and hung up on me. The 10 call finally got through to customer service where I let Scott Green (Supervisor?) know about my issues. He was quick to let me know that the only thing that you are buying from Got Engines (or SW Engines) is a block, head and internal components. I then told him what I read on their website, which states that the engine would come complete MINUS the Power Steering Pump, alternator, Starter, and AC Compressor. Scott Green then stated to raise his voice and told me that I needed to keep reading the portion about how all other components are left on "For convenience purposes only" which, according to him means that I'm lucky that I got anything beyond the block, head and internals EVEN THOUGH THE WEBSITE SAYS:

"Your engine will arrive complete, minus Power Steering Pump, alternator, Starter, and AC Compressor." Scott Green then told me that they have a strict ONE CLAIM warranty policy, which means that if I were to file a warranty claim for the broken parts that their website said WOULD be included I wouldn't able to make a claim later if the engine was junk, seized or had ANY other issues at all.

I attempted to speak with a supervisor above Scott Green but he said that he was his own boss and had no supervisor. I asked again if I could speak with his supervisor and he again told me that not only was there no one else to speak with but I'm just wasting his time. I asked if I could speak with his shipping department so that I could put them in contact with R&L since they are the consigner and R&L wouldn't speak to me about the damaged intake. Scott Green then told me that there was no point in that because they "go though this all of the time and I would get anything out of them".

I'm absolutely dumbfounded by this company.

Got Engines/SW Engines and the single worst "loop hole" policies that I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I will NEVER do business with either of these companies again and I cant advise anyone else to either.
