Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I was at work when I recieved a call on my cell phone. I answered. A woman with a very thick accent began speaking to me about how the Federal Government had made this list of people that were eligible to recieve grant money, and that I was on it.

I asked her a few questions about how did she get my number, how was I to know that she was not lying to me, and who was this company. She answered all of my questions, with an attitude I might add.

So then she asked me for my account number. I told her that I did not have it with me. She got very pushy and insisted on calling me back to get my information. I said fine. Rather aggitated, I hung up the phone and continued with my work.

The afternoon progresses and I leave work. I am on my way home and low and behold the SAME nasty woman calls me back. That should have been my first clue, the fact that I was speaking with the same person.

I ask her more questions, and she begins to get harsh with me. She proceeds to tell me that this company has been in business for over 12years and that everyone has gotten what they were promised.

Happy at the prospect of having a little extra money, being a single mom of two and in the middle of moving, it would have been a great help. I gave her my account number. In return she gave me a contact number and a confirmation number and the date for the deduction of the 298 from my checking account.

Again, aggitated I hung up the phone and got an un easy feeling, but I dismissed it and went and picked my kids up from day care.

As the time came near for them to remove the funds from my account I began to worry. I acctually became ill with worry. the money set to come out October 3rd. I called them on monday October 3rd, I had tried over the weekend it said that their offices were closed but would be open again Monday through Friday 9am-5pm eastern standard time. So on monday morning after working all night, I called them at 6:20am, was put on hold for half an hour.

Finally someone got on the line, it was the same nasty woman that I had talked to the two times prior.I told her I wanted to put a stop on the process. She told me it was too late and to call my bank. So I did but they also tald me that since I had authorized it that there was nothing they could do .

So now the money is gone and I look like a fool. Oh well. Lesson learned.

EDitor's Suggestions on how to get your money back!

HERE IS WHAT RIP-OFF REPORT SUGGESTS YOU DO:

Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge, or as soon as you know about the charge, don't delay, and tell them that there has been fraudulent activity within your account. Explain that you wish to file a dispute, and demand that they assist you in accordance with Federal Regulation E.

According to the majority of victims interviewed by Rip-off Report, those who immediately called their banks to dispute the charges did not get very far. Many victims got the following responses from their banks: we could not do anything for you or you waited too long; it has been more than 60 days.

If the bank is says that you have waited too long, explain to them how you called their 800 number as soon as the charges were found, and were told by the bank that nothing could be done. Remind the bank that they failed to assist you properly at the 800 #, and instead, provided you with an inadequate explanation of your right to dispute. Tell the bank that it's their fault time has expired, and since they gave you the wrong info to begin with, they will just have to deal with it, take the loss and reverse the charges.

Tell them the truth; this was unauthorized and your account was NOT to be charged! Keep emphasizing how you never authorized anything! Direct them to the hundreds of victims reports that were filed on Rip-off Report.com. And if you're at the bank, walk them over to their computer and make them go to this site! If you are on the phone with them, tell them you will wait while they access this site! Either way, be persistent!

DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

Let them know nicely, that you were advised to Report them (the Bank) and this situation to the Banking Commission in your state. Since each state has a different name for the agency/controller over banks, find that name before you call or get to the bank so you can throw it in their face. The more knowledgeable you appear to be, the further you will get.

And just continue to demand the Federal Regulation E form! The bank CAN, MUST and WILL reverse the charge! But, you must be persistent; ask to speak to the supervisor or the area manager for all the branches in the state.

Let the bank personnel know you are meeting with the media later in the day, that you would much rather they do the right thing (as most other banks have) by looking at the complaints and immediately reversing the charge(s) to your account; no matter how long ago it was. Be sure to call the Media if necessary so you are telling the truth.

If you have to, be loud (but nice) in front of other customers. If you are just calling by phone, the above tactics should still work. The bank can easily fax or mail to you the Federal Regulation E dispute form.

CHARGES TO YOUR CREDIT CARD

If the charge was to your credit card (not debit card, check card, or checking account), contact the credit card company as soon as possible to request a dispute form. Consumers usually have a little longer to dispute fraudulent credit card charges (up to 6 months), but it is better to act right away. In this type of situation, credit card disputes are usually successful since fraudulent companies often won't contest the disputed charge. In rare cases, credit card companies will review disputes, but refuse to reverse the charges. If this occurs, complain to a manager and let them know you will be filing a report here.

Remember Don't let them get away with it! Make sure they make the Rip-off Report .. The more Reports filed on a Company or individual, the more likely it is that the authorities, media and attorneys will want to take action.

And good luck Let us know how you do!

Good for you!! That you got your money back. It is nice to hear a happy ending. Anyways, I hope when you filed your claim that you closed the account that the scam bags have access too. I would close the account and reopen a new one. I would not doubt it if those scam bags will try to screw you again. And like the other poster said they may call you again to pull another scam. Anyways, best wishes and congratulation on your refund.

Well I finally heard back from my bank and I have some great news. They honored my claim and gave me all of my money back!!!!!! Well I just thought that I would share that with all of you and say thank you to those who read my report, and I want to give a warning to the rest of you that may come accross this report.......... keep your account information to yourself. I learned a very valuable lesson. I have to say one thing about Bank of America..... they are great. they took my claim, and they were polite about it and they responded quickly. I have had to deal with alot of banks and this one is by far the best that I have come accross

I had called the customer service phone number, with a blocked number. A woman soon answered within only a couple of minutes, and had asked for a confirmation number. I told them that I did not have any confirmation number. She then asked me for the telephone number I was calling from. I refused to give it her, so now you know that they must use Caller ID so that they can harass the same person if there are any problems. I had then started asking how come they are posing as GSI and Advantage America. She told me that they were not Advantage America. I had then asked her why the answering services are the same as Advantage America, but she her voice stumbled, and I hung up on her. please go here. http://www.orlando.bbb.org/newsearch2.asp?ComID=073300154320118 it shows the better business bureau has them already and has already verified the names they work under, and GSI is included along with Advantage America. it's really scary. And good luck Crystal!

I called the number that had been left in the rebuttal, and it was the same voice that I had heard for half an hour the day I called to have the process stopped. It seems to me that these people are making one big mess and they need to be stopped. Still dealing with my bank, so we will see what happens. I will add updates if I get any where with this whole mess.

I had been scanning through the reports and just so happened to find yours. It caught my eye as I had been scammed by a government grant company called Advantage America. I am not sure, but I called the number you had given me, which had the SAME voice greeting as the number for Advantage America. The phone number is 1-866-503-7345. You can verify to hear the same exact voicemail on two different numbers with 2 different "company" names. I hope you changed your account number because these people are viscious. And, when you change your account number, don't be surprised if they call you back to scam you again, because they did that to me. I'll be looking in on your report to see what has been happening, And if interested, search Advantage America and check out the reports.
