I was a manager of a Hair Cuttery back in the day and I know how it all works. Once you get a loyal client who thinks you are the god of hair, or dreads in your case, you up the price. Usually, the customer is so happy with the stylist that they will pay this new price, but I have to admit that doubling the price is crazy. You are supposed to gradually up the price little by little. The "book" prices are for new customers only. When I worked there, appts were not allowed, just walk ins, but I think now it has changed. Either way, you were treated wrong and Hair Cuttery lost a great client because of it. You should have asked for the new price written in a policy book. They would have not been able to produce it, because the only prices documented are the new customer prices. Also, you could have pretended that you were going to pay it, let her finish your hair, then told them you have to speak to corporate before deciding what to do. They don't have a choice but to allow you to do that. If you are not happy for whatever reason, you don't have to pay. Period. Good luck in the future.
